Good evening all....
I am on the east coast but figured there'd be more knowledge here on an Eliminator 300xp Eagle.... In the following article where they tested a 2001 Eagle 300xp they say, "Behind the gloss, Eliminator lays up the boat with Baltek balsa coring up to 3/4" thick, depending on stress loads, and multidirectional 1708 Knytex fiberglass. The hull and deck are bonded together from the inside with fiberglass all the way around the perimeter. " - https://www.boatingmag.com/boats/eliminator-300-eagle-xp-swinging-single/

Can anyone tell me if this was still the case on a 2004 or did they do away with coring? I know in that era a lot of manufacturers were going with full fiberglass layups to save weight, but I boat on the intercoastal and atlantic that gets real choppy and snotty with weather and boat traffic often. Need something thats not going bust up and delam on me. If no coring, how do they hold up and ride?

Would also love to know what you guys might think a 2004 with twin bbc, fully forged 540s, low hours, extension boxes, xr uppers, b1 lowers, full hyd. steering, newer trailer, and entire boat in great shape would go for out on the west coast?

The 30' Eagle is an awesome rough water boat. Twins in it are even better. My only concern would be a lot of the V-hulls in that era were laid up in the Havasu shop and that is no bueno. Maybe someone else can chime in about it.

I don't know all that much about them other than I've always thought they were wave crushers and loved the way they look. Bob did tell me one time he built them for a special class of offshore racing. I always thought only 260's and down were sometimes built in Havasu. Gelcoater might be the best source for some of the answers. I do believe there are some owners on RDP.

I might be wrong on this but the F-1 class was one motor up to 30' and the F-2 class was 30' or bigger with twins which it fit into both categories. I knew a girl, yes a girl, that raced the 30' and said it handled better than the 34'. I've got a picture somewhere of her airing it out (like 20' of air) under the Golden Gate.

That could be the case, I wasn't sure.
I'm not really positive on that, I just remember them asking if I wanted my 236 built there, but we weren't full time then so we said no. That is when They told me some of the smaller Eagles were made there.

I couldn't do anything but guess. Low hours great shape at least 60- 75 I would think depending on the quality of the motors.

The 30’ were built in Mira Loma.
Whoever the girl is Grads knows is fairly accurate, the 30 was considered a better performing hull.
As far as I know all the boats 30 and up were balsa (Baltek) cored. I believe 3/4 on bottom and 1/2 on sides.

I think I’d be less concerned about the layup on that unit and more concerned about the engines/drives.
540s. Who built them? What’s inside them? How many hours on the engines?
How many hours on the drives?

The 30 Eagle is a righteous ocean boat, especially with twins.

Thanks Gelcoater... A guy on FB sent me an article from 2005 Powerboat and everyone here has me confident in the hull for sure now. Not sure who built them yet, but going to look at the build and dyno sheets when I look at the boat. He says 38hrs on the engines... Gen 6 540's, eagle rotating assemblies,SRP pistons Canton 14 qrt pans, Brodix BB2 heads and intakes, Johnsons Lifters, crane cams, MSD distributers, Daytona Sensors ignitions, 3x25 oil coolers, remote oil thermostats. KE mechanical fuel pumps, Quick fuel marine 1050 carbs.
10hrs on drive tear down and inspection
Im willing to bet he could some better money for this on the left coast 👍

Someone mention F1 and F2 racing?!

Hands down the BEST offshore racing class in the history of offshore racing. You'd see a fleet of 30 boats racing in those classes. All same power. Racing came down to driver ability and build quality of boat. You could literally race on Saturday and go boating on your local lake on Sunday. It was a fantastic program that sold a lot of boats for manufacturers too. Sad day when those classes went away.

I raced F1 for three seasons and it was a blast. Deck to deck, three to five wide in the first corner and three boats within 100’ of each other headed to the checkers was normal. It wasn’t about how long you held it wide open, it was about how little lifted. It was so competitive I’d look for bumps coming out of corners to free the boat up so it would accelerate quicker. We had 5 to 8 boats in our class per race.

I totally agree! I was a HUGE fan of F-1 and F-2 racing and probably why I like blue motors so much to this day. After those classes went away I kind of lost interest.

I've never gotten a definitive answer. Some say the manufacturers got wary of liability issues after a couple deaths and started pulling out major sponsorship.

I'm still a little confused. I looked through all of my 2003-2004 HotBoat Mags and didn't see it. Was it in HotBoat or another mag?

Does anyone know the dead rise on the eagles? I had heard 21 degrees. Also is it only the 30’ that has (30 and up were balsa (Baltek) cored). I’m looking at 28’. Are the hulls the same V?

Check with @28Eliminator about the details of the 28, they are great boats, but not nearly as deep of a "V" as the 30 and up.

I remember back about 2009 or so, one of the drawing prizes at the regatta was a trip with Bob to Catalina in his 30, I wanted to win that so bad, but I didn't.😢😂

The eagles up through the 28’s have a shallow deadrise compared to the 30’ and up. My 28 rides rough compared to other comparable V hull boats.. at least it think so. In 95 or 96 they added the steps to the hull. Previous were straight bottoms. Mine (96) has a delta pad, and as far as I know they all do. If you have enough HP to get it on the pad they run fast!!

Ok thx, I’ll look into 30’s then, they probably only have 28’ running surface. But I was thinking 28’ was as big as I wanted to go with a single.

If I had it to do over again, I’d go for the 30’ 👍
