I want to get my mom an electronic picture frame for Christmas but I have no idea what one. I’ll probably just grab one off amazon but I’m looking for one that’s nice and also easy to use.

I plan on visiting her to set it up but I‘d rather not be getting a service call from her every week, she’s 2 hours from out house.

They're pretty straight forward. Just get one with good reviews. It's similar to working a tablet. Got one for my mom 4 years ago and it recently died. I believe her cat helped kill it though,,

we have a couple , couldn't tell you what brands. they are both different.
I'm pretty sure both hold a SD card and USB thumb drive. we just leave ours on random pictures every 10-15 seconds. once it up and going you don't need to do anything.
ours probably have 150-200 pictures on each drive. Not sure if the newer ones let change pictures on a daily basis or not.

sorry no help really on which one to buy, but she shouldn't need you to go fix or adjust anything once set up. Haven't touched ours in a year and still works fine.

We bought the sky light frame for both my mom and my dad. I dont believe we pay a subscription service, at least i dont. But you can send pics via an email address to the frames to constantly add pics. Works good. They enjoy it. Also notifies them of new pics that have been sent.

This was the best value when we bought a few last year.

Note:
They’re worthless if the recipient doesn’t ever turn it on…like the one we bought my mom.

At first I thought this was a dumb idea. But my wife bought one. She can update the frame from her phone with new pics. So she changes them out periodically, and adds new ones. Walking by there is always some fun memory popping up. I realized i was wrong, it is pretty slick to have.

A lot of them have subscriptions you will have to pay for:( my grandma has one and we paid for lifetime subscription (100$) I think. She loves it and great way to see what’s going on in our lives. She doesn’t do social media
Does it automatically update? If so, where do the pics come from, cloud, social media? Do you send it to the frame like a text? Just curious because we got my mom one years ago and it’s probably in a drawer somewhere. 🙄

Edit: I read the responses after yours.

The new ones seem cool. Ours there is no cloud or updating from the phone.
This got me thinking of one for my mom. I can load grandkids etc from our phones. 👍👍👍

My daughter on the East coast bought us one. Pretty cool. She has control of it and updates pictures of our granddaughter often. No subscriptions, just wi fi. So it is spying on us too.

As I am reading this a commercial comes on the TV. skylightframe.com I know nothing about it but pictures can be added remotely by anyone that has the email address assigned to it. Anybody have any knowledge?? Sounds interesting.

We have two Aura frames, one at home and one at the river house. They are awesome. We've gifted them to the parents and they LOVE getting new pics added. The app makes it super easy to share photos from your phone. No subscription, and they even do video clips too.

We got that one for my Dad and it‘s pretty cool we can email him pics whenever and he can also upload right from his computer.

I was interested in this product, so I read the Terms of Service. Surprisingly, they agree not to use use your content for any purpose other than displaying on the device(s) you designate. As long as they live up to that promise, score one for privacy and content ownership rights. 😊 I just might buy one.

get the Skylight. I did for mom and set it up and gave the sisters the address. they all update it with grandkids etc. Its kinda cool, she never knows when new pics get added until she notices them in the rotation. She's had it for 2 years now without issue

We have a couple ourselves and I have given them as gifts all bought from Amazon.
My advise is to make sure that they have internet availability is capable of email. Then you just program an email address to the picture frame and as long as it is connected to the internet anyone can email pics directly to it. This is what we do.
We have had a smartass friend email a very nude picture to ours once and quickly deleted it. Was kind of funny actually. 😁

I was thinking I could anonymously gift one to RD and give the email address to all the inmates.

Start it off with a bunch of cool boating pics and some bullshit card about how we are so thankful he has this great forum up for us to enjoy throuought the year. After about a week, start updating it LOLOLOL

We gave our parents one and upload pictures of our little one for them to watch.

My first thought when my wife told me how it worked to was thank goodness they didn't have these when I was younger. I would have pranked the heck out of people.

I have had experience with the older versions and they seemed gimmicky, screen definition wasn't good, had to manually load SD cards but liked the concept. My better half mentioned that she would like one this past summer and I was at Best Buy a couple of weeks ago and bought this for one of her gifts.

It comes with a free account that is size limited, but 8GB should be enough and it will play +/- 8 second videos. It also has a proximity sensor and can be set to operate on set times / days. It allows for 5 accounts / photo albums (friends or family) to add photos / videos. NFW I would let my friends or two teenage sons have access to upload photo's (apple doesn't fall far from the tree!) but my wife can let her son or friends add photo's to it.

Thanks for taking the time to read the fine print that we all scroll past and agree to. 😁
