I don't need no stinkin solar. 2000 sq ft house 7,8-8/7 and it was hot.. Not Havasu hot but most days over 100.

Seriously 354 KWh ain't very much and would cost about the same in Havasu....actually just a little less.....I used 2300 KWh at my house last month[emoji6]

BTW my bill with Solar last month on the Lake house was $1.03[emoji41]

Look into changing your purge frequency setting. Most are set by default for after every freeze/harvest cycle. I'd change that to the next frequency less. If you have much of any water filtration for the machine there is VERY little reason to purge that often.

That's a good idea, didn't know it could be done! We have a pretty killer filter setup. Right now it is purging every cycle

Mine was $350 this month, 1600 sq. ft. brand new A/C. Used a little over 2,200 KWH.

1900 sq' 2 story house, just put a new a/c unit in, have it set at 78 from 8-4 then 74 until 9:00 then down to 69 for the night. Plus my son and girlfriend were on summer break and home most the month. Solar was $245 for the month.

There should be a control board inside the right panel. If you look on the board, there are a couple sets of jumper pins on it. One should be labeled "purge" or something along those lines (going off of memory at the moment). I believe you have to move it over one pair so it's selecting the "0" setting. It still purges but only every few cycles.

If you get me the model # I can look it up and tell you exactly what to change to change that setting.

No not at all. Right now I live alone but the prior two months I had my girlfriend and her 93 year old mom who watched TV all day and slept with a light on (led bulb). We had a serious June heatwave with several days over 105 and up to 110. From 6/9 to 7/17 my usage was 531 KWH. New 2015 tract house. Those low E windows and radiant barrier really work. I keep the thermostat at 80.

Haha way higher than 600 this time of year, your average was close to 600 as I recall. Looks like its working!

2500sqft in OC with SCE I had a $250 bill in July and $300 for August. AC is off during the day and set to 74 degrees at night. We spend time at the river house so it's off several days a month but these bills are actually lower than last year by about $50-$75.

River house was $50 for July and August was $70. I let the AC run at 78 for a week in August while we were at Powell so we could return to a cool house. I have Mohave Electric Cooperative and they have been pretty cheap in the 11 years I've owned the place.

5,000 sq ft. $300 per month this summer. Keep the thermostats at 75 24/7 which is not as cool as a lot on here. All LED lighting, ceiling fans, etc. Granted, it is not as hot here in TN, but there is more humidity. The house has got 13 tons of cooling going on plus a dehumidifier that runs 24/7 in the basement. I'm pretty happy that it is not more $$$. Our 3000' house in ca would have been $500/mo.

The "how far did you drive" part of the equation sorta matters for these comparisons to work :thumbup:

Everyone should care about how much you get charged for each KWh. In California your rates are double most states for the same amount of energy used. I can use twice the amount of energy and have a lower bill.

Think about it like paying $2 dollars a gallon for gas and then $5 for the same gallon. SCE rates have went from the one of the least expensive to being one of the most expensive.

I just got the highest bill of the year at $202. This is actually the highest bill we have received since moving to Havasu.

Here in Western NY, my bill for A/C and all other electric....$28

Worst I have ever seen for heat was $116 on an all electric system.

BTW, we have "community power" as in the town owns the electric utility and the bill is only line rate. Operating expenses for the utility are part of my tax bill.

This week it's in the 70's so the AC is off and windows are open.

2000sf single story house in San Dimas, with 18' high cathedral ceilings. the front of the house faces South, the sun just bakes it. Built in 79, very poor insulation. My bill gets to over $700,
My AC is set for 71 and runs 24/7. Plus a pool. Winter bill is usually $275-$300.

I think I might go solar...
