We rented a Tesla for a trip we took to AZ a few months back as I wanted to see what the EV experience might be like. Drove it from Scottsdale to Sedona, hiked and had to find a charger to make it back. The car took us to one that would have taken 8 hours to charge. We found a supercharger next to a wine bar so that worked out ok. We were at like 80% in 30 minutes maybe. Next day drove from Scottsdale to Vegas. The charge started getting low, we had to back the speed down to like 55 and not use the A/C until we reached Kingman and could charge it back up at some fast food place. It was such a strange deal with like 8 cars that all look the same backed into spaces with people just sitting in them waiting. Spaceship docking station. It was an interesting car for sure. I would not be opposed to owning one for around town, but 100% would want a ICE car too. We know a married couple who both have them as their only cars. No way I would consider that after my experience with one.
IMO I wouldn’t mind an ev for around town they have their advantages no doubt. I just ain’t forking down money for a new car of any kind right now.

But agree I would keep my truck for the long trips or towing duties be confined to those trips and when I need a truck. But for town sprints wouldn’t mind the ev. I’m against forcing them on everyone as well.

I stopped by a local harbor freight to pick up a few more car drying towels which I highly recommend for $6.99 and will post a photo below. They work great!

Anyways, I’m getting out of my truck and notice this couple (mid 60’s) sitting in a Chevy Volt that is hooked up to a EV charger. I laughed to myself and thought they were probably waiting to get enough juice to get home.

I quickly grab what I need, check out, and on my way out I notice them loading their shit into a smart car parked at the other charging station. I sat there for a second and watched them both get in it, leaving their Chevy volt to charge…

I know I live in SoCal where most people have half a brain cell but wtf… I didn’t realize how inconvenient people are making their lives to drive these stupid electric vehicles.

Wife looked like a flaming lib. Poor husband probably goes to sleep every night dreaming about hot rods, ribeye steaks, and chicks with big tits.
Bet they were thinking you were an asshole with nothing better to do.

Oh come on if the battery gets low it just slows to 55 with no ac, no big deal 😅
We took the wife’s Tesla to Mohave for the dam run. Went Havasu to Mohave and then headed back to so cal. Speed limited with no AC in August SUCKED. Nav took us the back way to Baker to charge. That thing hasn’t gone on a road trip since.

I stopped by Walmart last night on the way home for butter. My truck is pretty big so i just park in the back of the lot by the chargers where it’s usually empty. They have 8 chargers there but half of them were broken. The back of the lot was packed with cars waiting for a working charger. Reminded me of my childhood and Carter’s gas lines.

I don't give a f@#k what anybody drives. But what I do give a f@#k about is some NAZI shutting down oil fields and pipelines, so we have to pay outrageous dollars to drive. I think electric is great to be honest! But don't push it down our throats like its fu@#ing saving the planet, its not! Its controlling peoples movements more and more.
100% Agree! 👍

One of our young employees (full libtard in her early 20s) just bought a Tesla. Knowing she lives in an apartment I asked how she charges her car nightly? Her answer was every night after dinner her and her boyfriend drive across town to the Target to use the chargers. She said they sit in the car and watch Netflix while the car is charging!!

Simple solution. they should put free chargers in all apartments.

What about apartments without garages and you have to park on the street sometimes blocks away? Free electricity, you must be joking!

Don’t dunk your electric car on the ramp, doesn’t seem to eco friendly.

Since I own an EV, I have always wondered about that. Just in the Denver metro area there are tens of thousands of apartments/condos. More popping up every day.

Wonder where in the hell those people are going to charge their EV.

Just tell the mayor of Denver that homeless people need charging stations and he'll spend $42 million to build them a thousand of them😳

If you really wanna know how REALLY stupid these MF'ers are...

Perhaps they were protesting the diesel generators used in the paddock at the Formula E races to charge the battery powered race cars?

The sad part is, that's actually closer to the truth.

And, by the time they got done it would be $102 mil. And still not work.

It sounds like you don’t go with your wife to drop off one EV to charge in a random parking lot, then drive off in your second one that’s fully charged.

Didn’t mean to piss off the golf cart crowd here 😂

The old folk are probably afraid the Bolt will burn down their home when they are charging it in the garage. Who cares if it burns down the local CCP Tools. ;)

Not to mention it'll open the door for more to come in😐

The property owners are going to be required to install the needed infrastructure to charge vehicles. Shouldn't be as big of a deal for those that have on site parking (other than the cubic money needed), but the older places with on street parking is going to be a huge issue.

If you guys are wondering what happens when an electric car goes into water at a boat ramp, here is an example. It’s a Tesla.

It certainly burns! Lol

In Ca you can’t swing a dead cat and not hit 30 EV’s . I just got back from a canon ball run to Tennessee and back , mainly along I40 . In towns and highways, I saw maybe 6 EV’s the entire time .

This is exactly why EVs will only exist on the coasts or Blue city centers.

If you really care about the bottom line you wouldn’t even own a vehicle for local transportation. Between payments, interest, insurance, registration, maintenance and depreciation… you are just lining the pockets of other people.

No driver to deal with and no gas to buy! Two martinis lunches and shopping everyday.

This is actually the end game. You will need to live within walking distance of work, food and socializing (and schools for the kiddos). For farther journeys you hail a ride service, hopefully piloted by a computer instead of a human.

In 20 years I would think gasoline cars will be like a plug in corded tool.
So the ICE car will be used to get the job done.

I used my battery powered drill to spin a brush to clean my floor.
Every 10 minutes it was dead.
Pulled out my corded drill and finished the job with out having to stop

At least you don’t have to tip the computer!

But seriously, it might just turn a two car family into a one car family. I go 2-3 week without driving my trucks, I just share my wife’s jeep most of the time.

I can’t imagine the cost of a couple teenage drivers with cars in addition to mom and dads vehicles.

Bingo. The ol' 15 minute city plan. Boise Idaho is working diligently to create their 15 minute utopia and they aren't even trying to hide it. In fact they just re-wrote the city building code and voted unanimously to change the code so they can build high rise housing, no parking, etc. They are giddy with the thought of doubling the city population.
