Anyone ever have ear wax bad enough that a second visit was necessary to remove it?
Went to doc Monday for ear wax issue. She poked and prodded and tried to vacuum until it hurt like hell. A bit of soreness and some blockage issues.
Was told to use mineral oil for a couple weeks then come back.
Getting old sucks.

I had a build up a long time ago in my 30's, used to travel a lot so maybe something due to airplane pressurization, I don't know. Anyway was annoying as hell. Doc gave me some liquid to put in everyday to soften it, I went back a week later and he flushed out a huge chunk of wax. Life changing at the moment, haha, hasn't happened again in the next 30 yrs

Can you run warm water with a hand held shower in your ear?

Flush it out…

Did you at least get a pic of the offending waxy buildup?
Funny thing with as hard as she worked on it without success I did after the fact want to see what it looked like. I don’t think a camera was involved.

Your doctor posted your procedure on Instagram...

I wish. Every time I winced in pain from her touching my ear drum I was hoping she was finally pulling the chunk out. Didn’t happen, that time.
Hoping for better results next time.

Not really hearing issue but more so ringing and wanting to get a base line reading.
I think you have tinnitus. I have it, millions of every day people have it. just typing this made my brain find my ringing. Is this all new? Wouldnt hurt to go to a ENT (ears, nose and throat) doctor. So they can look in your ear. My first visit to the doctors about my ringing they told me I most likely had a build up of wax and thats whats creating my ringing. Unfortunately that wasnt my issue. It took a specialist to look in my ear and say every thing is normal but you have internal damage to the ear drum.

After a hearing test the only thing they recommended for my ear ringing wad a noise maker at night. Blue noise / purple noise at the correct volume tones down my ringing.

They can test which frequency cancels out yours.

My "ear tube" is crooked in both ears, so wax builds up. I use the drops and everything but I still have to go to the doctor every 6-12 months to get the gunk removed. They use a squirt bottle with a little tube on the end the basically hydraulics the blockage out. Feels great once it is done, kinda sucks while they are performing the cleaning.

I have tubes in both my ears. If left there they fall out on their own, but they need to stay in, so about every 4 months I go in and get cleaned to keep the tubes happy.

It’s not a pleasant experience having them root around by your eardrum with tools and a vacuum.

My ears have always had issues with wax, Had them flushed. vacuumed etc, found the best thing to do is debrox a few times week before appt then go in for vacuum, does wonders, go back every year, if i don,t use the debrox ( or mineral oil) the cleaning does not work as good,

Always had ear issues since a kid, had ear infections all the time. I just had to have a vacuum job recently as well. Best thing for me is douse the shit out of em in a few days leading up, buy the kit that comes with the saline shooter but don't use it..use the drops and the plugs that come with it to make it easier and a c hair less painful when hittin the Dr. I bought myself an ear camera on Amazon and got pretty good at gettin down in there and pulling shit off the drum even.

So I guess people don’t clean their ears after getting out of the shower everyday.

I've been fairly ear wax free for like forever, but at the end of C 19 round #2 for me about 3 weeks ago has been different. The gunk I am still pulling out has almost justified to my wife a cant really hear what she is saying  It is mostly true though. She emptied the garbage can from my bathroom last week and was like WTF is wrong with your ears? The Q tips are nasty!

Pro tip for married guys, your welcome.

I had a blockage in one ear that was impossible to get with q-tips, ordered one of these and I had it cleaned out in a few minutes.

Takes a few minutes to learn how to move it around while looking at the image on your phone, but works really well once you figure it out.

I had that bad in my 20s. Did they use the jet flush thingy after some hydrogen peroxide?

I use one of these to flush my ears. I used to go to the ear doctor, but once I started using the flush ball, I haven’t been in 10 years.

I use Q-Tips too. Especially after flushing.

Most times when I use the squeeze ball, the wax comes out, so I recommend doing it in the shower.

I thought about making a joke, but couldn’t think of anything funny about ear wax build up. Lol

Well your squeeze ball looks like something a doctor would use during a colonoscopy, so there’s that.

This works good!!! Warm water, in the shower, couple of times in each ear every couple weeks will do the trick.

My ears have ALWAYS been an ear wax factory.
My Dad used to say to me. "You could grow potatoes in those things" ! 😆
Doesn't help that I surfed for 30+ years and my ear bones have grown so much that the Dr said they're 90% closed.
I can't afford the surgery to break up the bones & clear it . . . about $30K last time I checked.

I use a few drops of earwax oil drops a day before to loosen everything . . . then use a bulb syringe in the shower with warm soapy water for a 'mud slide', followed by a clean water flush. Then apply a few drops after oil afterwards.

I've had it so bad before that I was losing balance & getting dizzy. The when i'd free everything up in the shower, it'd take me 5-10 minutes to re-orient myself.

Some day I'd like to get the ear bone surgery, especially the laser technique . . . because the old way is to cut the back of your ear, fold it forward, then take a small hammer & chisel & bust up the overgrown bones and remove the pieces. I have a friend who has had the surgery 3 times (ear bones grew back from surfing in cold water with wind) and it is very painful and a long 6-8 week recovery time. That along wiith the cost is why I've pussed-out.

My son had to have both his ears rebuilt with this method due to cholesteatoma tumors. Both eardrums grafted from neck tissue along with prothetic bones to reconnect drum to inner ear. He doesn't hear real well but he can at least hear. Each ear required two to three surgeries to fix. All this when he was 15-16 yrs old. He's now 41.
The cholesteatoma is inherent, his mother had the same issue as a child and initially was being treated for seizure conditions. She finally was treated properly by a doctor(Crabtree) in Los Angeles who created the procedure.
My sons surgeon was trained by Crabtree.

I drop hydrogen peroxide in my ear. Let it fizz up for about 10 minutes, then flush clean with warm water using one of these (small squeeze bulb, same as C-Ya). I do NOT use Q-Tips. Works for me.

I bet when you were a baby your mother propped the bottle up next to you as you fell to sleep.

That causes a lot of ear issues for peeps as they get older. Buildup and so forth.

Just an observation and nothing meant other than edumacation (ya I know....being funny...lol) on the topic
