School me on e-bikes. Thinking I’m gonna buy the family some, 11yrs son, 13yrs daughter and then momma and me. There’s a Pedego bike shop down the street, but I like the super73’s and I end up looking at knockoffs online also. I’ve aeen a lot with Shimano components, just a no name frame/company's. I’m all over the board. Anyone really this crap?

We have nothing but S73’s, great quality and warranty, my sons bike had some problems mostly from him just sending it a little too hard, and they have taken care of it every time

What am i missing about these 73's ? as they look uncomfortable to ride and not to mention add any form of peddling.

We sold our souls as I wasn't a fan and looking for alternatives.

There more of a sporty type bike, its like comparing a cruiser motorcycle to a sportbike....any form of pedaling? They all have pedals and you could pedal as little or as much as you want...

They're kinda a retro look to mimic the early 70s(aka 73s) mx bicycles.
.
We have Huntington Beach Bicycle Co(HBBC) ebike cruisers, but we both still love our regular pedal Electra beachcruisers.
I'm currently working on converting those to ebike status.

Driven Bicycles in Costa Mesa, couldn't recommend them any more. Have 2 bikes from them, Quality is on par with most of the others, and the customer service is great.
They will also work with you a little on pricing and taxes if you're paying cash.

I would recommend at least the 73's for the kids, they are super popular among kids their age, if they arent your style, then get something else for you and the wife...there is also the Xero2 brand, which was founded by Ryan Villopoto, those are pretty cool as well...

I have two of the 73s they are great and reliable for flat land. But if your doing any hills your fucked. And pedaling a 50lb ebike up a hill sucks

Not sure which ones you have, but I have never experienced any issues on hills....if its dead, and the only option is to pedal, then yes the bike is heavy...but hills with pedal assist has never been a problem, especially with the models that have gears...

I bought a Rad bike for my grandson, and he loves it. The downside, from my perspective, is that he likes the throttle too much. It’s a good thing he gets plenty of exercise in other ways, or I’d have to sabotage it. 😂

I have a Specialized Creo, which I love, but my knees don’t. It may be time for even me to give in and buy a bike with a throttle. 🤷‍♂️

I have two 73’s. They’re awesome and super fun. They’re just more sporty than the basic beach cruiser style. As said earlier they’re the difference between a sport bike versus a Harley.

I’m 6’2” and 190lbs and my 73’s are super comfortable. I rode my friends Nurf basic beach cruiser style E-Bike and it was boring. He added a S73 after riding mine.

I live in the hills with a bunch of single track and goat hill trails and my S73 doesn’t struggle much. I actually think it does pretty good when out riding with my buddies that have mountain bike e-bikes. It’s nowhere near as good as those but it does fine.

So do you peddle at all, or just relay 100% on electric.

I pedal assist. Keeps the charge up longer. If I’m at the beach with a headwind I’ll pedal assist too. If I’m going with the wind or bar hopping it’s electric only lol

The best thing on my Elux bike is the seat post and seat. The range is way longer than my ass can last sitting.

You cannot go wrong with RAD bikes. The RAD Rovers would be an alternative to the Super 73

This right here...if you want a bike to just cruise around and tell people to get off your lawn, then any electric bike will do....if you want something pretty fun and nimble, can take it off sweet jumps, do some gnarly wheelies, hit some dirt trails, and rail some sick berms, then the 73 is for you....lol....

Have you rode an e-bike before?

There are two different kinds, as far as I know. Some you still have to pedal, like ours, and some you can just throttle and don't need to pedal unless you want to. There are also different motor sizes. Personally, I like exercise, so I like the pedal-assist. Just give a little extra boost. One of our friends bought some that have a lot of power and they take off on you, you'd better be ready. His wife is scared to death of it. She starts to engage it and put her foot to barely move the pedal and she's going 10 mph in 2 seconds. So he bought a $10K bike that she won't ride. I tried out a few bikes that were similar and didn't like them either. I just want a little extra power when I pedal so that I don't get exhausted going up hills. Ours still have shifters on them, so usually I keep it on level 1-2 out of 5 and use the gears. This is a long-winded way of saying I recommend everyone ride their bikes around the parking lot/street before you take them home, rather than bring home surprise gifts.

We have the RAD Rover-6 in both high and low bar and like them. They aren't the nicest bike on the planet, but work well, and am amazed at how long the battery lasts.

We went with the Aventon Sinch folding bike. Im 6'4" and the wife's 5'6" and it actually fits both of us. Slid my seat back and rolled my bars froward a little and did the opposite on hers. Really easy to ride, its like riding a pit bike

I'm on my 3rd Ecotric.
Sold the 2 Seagulls and got a Rocket fat tire. Ride is so much better
7 speed shimano, 36 volt, 500 watt, 5 speed pedal assist or throttle only
Runs about 22 mph.
18 month warranty
I paid $800 to my door. They are on sale now for $649.
It has front suspension but not sure if the one in stock has the seat post suspension like mine

This!

I have a pedal assist mountain E bike. Love it. Easy to control and add power when I want it. I also have a full on E-dirt bike E-ride pro SS - totally sketch and flatout dangerous. Thought it would be cool and it is. But it’s looped out on me a couple times and left me banged up and bleeding.

Ride them before ya by them.

Damn! We have (2) RAD and I’d like to have a third. Wanted to stick with RAD, but damn those are 1/2 the $!

Wife and I both have RAD bikes. They have a big shop in Huntington Beach by the pier. You can try them out and go ride for a while. Great bikes and a reputable brand.

We’ve got kids riding tandem 30 some mph down our alley with no gear on. They’ll meet their maker before long. It’s just a matter of time and these bikes will be off the road unless licensed and insured.

My wife and I both have the Aventon pace, Hers is the step thru. Headwinds at the beach, hills in Havasu no problem. These are nice because even without the pedal assist or throttle you can just pedal them like a cruiser with gears. Not super heavy so you can lift on a bike rack if you want.

I have taken mine on a 45 mile ride ( mostly flat ) and still had a little less than 1/2 a battery left. Not as much of a " cool factor " as a super 73 but they work for us. We also have a regular mountain bikes so these are just cruisers for us.

As mentioned i have the Soul Cuda and couldn't be happier. i ride more now than i have in years, and most of the time i'm pedaling, its so much nicer to ride than my Specialzed fat tire bike is, but on a hill or if i get tired love that little button or turn on pedal assist,

Whatever happened to just peddling your lazy asses? I kind of get the Ebike thing for MTB riding, but peddling around town, come on!! You're all getting lazy!!
Hills happened.

Maybe they were always there but now they feel like mountains.

I know the 73's are big amongst kids and if you buy the wrong bike for the kids it's going to be a big deal. Kids in Murrieta and Temecula all do bike get togethers and cruise the town and I know 73's are the staple. Here in North County San Diego especially San Marcos and Oceanside, the Rad Runner 2's are really popular. When middle school gets out, it's crazy! I think I saw 200 of them all at once when school got out doing 35 mph down the hill. I'm planning on a 73 for my son, but would prefer to get him a Mantis if the cops didn't impound them for not having pedals.

My kid rides almost daily with about 10 kids, who then meet up with other kids as well....98% of them are on 73's, the others are on a Surron or Talaria which are both illegal on the streets because they are considered motorcycles not bikes...
