Bought a Rad Rover 6+. It’s like a beach cruiser / mountain bike style. I just cruise with the wife along the beach etc for around 20-30 miles. Seat just kills my ass after a while. What seats have you guys bought that you like? I know some have shocks on them or springs. I’m 57, 215 great shape but oh boy I need a better seat lol.

Check the C9 line….we put them on our rad bikes, completely changed our experience. Also the seat post shock is another game changer…..🚲

Just board shorts. Just ordered a C9 seat and a suspension post 👍
Dan will be revisiting this thread when he buys his bike 😂

I robbed the seat from my mobility scooter. Seemed like a no brainer. :p

No matter who you are, no matter what you ride, no matter what kinda seat you put on it, there is a "break in period" for your saddle area. There's gonna be hot spots no matter what. It's 2-3 weeks and its done. Get used to it.

Proper fit, proper reach, and GREAT bibs or even shorts make all the difference. A casual rider, that only rides once in a while, is never gonna have a happy ass on any bike. Bike pants....a must. I won't even ride around the block to test without them on.

Price of admission.

I do agree with the padded shorts. I even use them on the motorcycle on a long ride. Bibs are much better but overkill for the average rider cruising around.

Price of admission.

100% this.
Buy and get fitted for your new bike by someone who knows what they're doing.
Can't say how many people you see riding expensive new bikes (both e and regular) that you just know are going to become garage queens because the rider has such a shitty set up.
Shorts and seat are also critical. Don't be tempted by a big ass padded seat and I'm going to go against the grain here. I cut the padding out of my favorite shorts - having said this ... a long ride or spin for me is an hour (but there are very few days I don't pedal somewhere).

I’ll add a +1 to the bike shorts, they have helped, but riding for more than an hour is still a pain in the a$$. I’ve done stock and padded seats. Maybe the fitment is the solution, who knows. We live in bike paradise, Boulder, many, many miles of great trails.

Here’s our canvass, right out the back yard.

You're right, Boulder, besides being a stronghold for militant green enviro hippies, is probably, via percentage of populace the cycling capitol of America. Sepp Kuss, who rode to a top ten in the TDF this year is from there. My bet is he is one the podium next year.

Beautiful place BTW.

If your getting a sore ass after an hour, you're either not riding through the price of admission, 2-3 weeks, a bad fit or a bad pad on your shorts. I swear by these two brands. They're pricy but well worth the price. Try a saddle cream as well. It helps at first. I use DZ's NUTs when I do 8 hours or more.

Too funny. I’m likely guilty of the trifecta . . . no admission, bad fit and bad pad. Although probably not the last one, I’ve got Trek padded shorts, but maybe not as good as those you reference. I’ll check them out, have fun and be safe out there if you are on the public roads.

Constant fear. My coach tells me you shouldn't wear earbuds when riding, you can't hear cars. I asked her if the car that hits you sounds different than the car that doesn't. She didn't know what to say.

But thanks, its real.

Don't let any of those bad fit deals keep you away from cycling.

This, no matter what your ass is going to have to get use to that saddle. Your legs will feel better before your ass will. Push through.
