I’ve got drive oil leaking into my bilge. Seems to be coming from where the hose goes into the drive. Has anyone replaced this hose or the fittings? Is it possible to do with the motor and drive on the boat?

There’s a plastic fitting that the reservoir hose goes to in the gamble housing. It can be done with engine and drive in.

What year is the boat?
Do you have your stern drive or transom serial number handy?

If it's the Mercruiser composite bulkhead oil fitting then here is a video that would also offer a few things not to do while changing out the bulkhead oil fitting...Parental guidance suggested too. :D

I think the vise grips are an important clue to the skill level of the YouTuber.

Lol, yes one of the most important water hoses in the cooling system and he is putting vise grips on it.🤪 YouTube certified right there.😁

Makes you wonder what damage the gimbal bearing, u-joint, bellows, and cables suffered during the "repairs." Check out that transom assembly, it looks like the boat has been tied to a Salton Sea dock for years.

Another brilliant mercury engineering feat. Some boats it's impossible with out removing the ram, and even then. Pull the drive anyway and make sure it is not leaking from the yoke seal though the weep hole I'm the gimbal housing into the boat.

its doable but not fun. I recommend getting the brass fittings from the earlier bravos if youre changing it out. theyre still available.

but i would check to make sure its not a yoke seal leak on the drive first thats coming in through the gimbal bearing

When I went to change mine out, it was too tight a space to get my hand in there. It was at this time that I decided that she was a keeper.

Keep in mind if your drive is generating more heat for whatever reason the oil will expand more and it will exit the weakest point in the system. I spent most of a summer figuring this out.
