So did he know that's what it looked like under there? Wonder why his truck wasn't towing the boat like normal?

That is so funny you posted this today! I was talking to my buddy last night and he had a guy drop a boat off two days ago with the EXACT SAME THING! It sat outside all year with the plug in it. He had took it to another shop to be winterized and they left the hoses off it, so water got into the engine and blew the freeze plugs out of it and who nows what else.

Wonder if he took the truck to the shop complaining it was down on power when he towed the boat recently.

Not a clue. But we had to use the fork lift to get the trailer off the truck the jack would not lift all the weight. and the water leaking from the hull/cap line as he pulled up was a give away:D

You have to add the "I'm a fucking idiot" endorsement:D

no doubt.....

Its a very exspensive add on;)

I love how someone walks into a boat repair business a week before a holiday weekend after letting there boat rot for 2 years and expects it to be golden by next thursday....haha

Did they ask you if it would be costly?

People are retarded......:p:D

my buddy dave got a free boat, (99 chris craft) from his uncle last year that was stored on there farm in sacramento. when we uncovered it for the first time it looked just like that. about 2 years rain water and the plug still in place. he never even took the cover off and drove down the 5 with it filled. we ended up cutting out the floor and redoing it along with all the electrical. motor fired after a while but even with the new floors it still stunk like old cheese. HAVE FUN KYLE!

And this sounds like someone who deserves a designated non breeder stamp on their forehead.

Some people dont need to pollute the gene pool anymore than their parents already have.

HOLY CRAP!!!! How long did it take to drain all that water out? Once it did drain, I am sure there was still a ton more draining out of all the carpet and upholstery. It probably won't even dry out before labor day, much less get it running. What a :loser:

Once the air hits all that stuff that's been underwater, it's gonna corode faster than a bud light lime will disapear in RD's pie hole!

Your right on the money. He's one of those guys you see on the lake, waving his arms and holding up a rope looking for a tow. And then blaming his mechanic...

I heard of a similar situation from the guy I used to store my boat with.Seems he had a customer with a fairly new cruiser ,say 26 footer who stored his boat outside of the shop because it was cheaper than inside.Well he said the guy only took the boat out like twice in two years so it mostly sat covered in plastic tarps ect.One day he noticed(after a long rainy spell)that all the trailer tires were flat.He went out and looked in the boat and it was full to the gunnels with water.Sure enough the plug was in it.He said water was running steady out of the boat for two days.

It's a boat, right? Isn't it a Marine Engine? Why then would water hurt it? What's the problem? I'd drain that little bit of water in there and fire that bitch right up! :D

If something fell (towel/rag/plastic ice bag), into the bilge, and blocked the drain hole, one might have a better argument of getting insurance to pay for damages. :hmm

When I had to store my boat out side, I checked on it at least twice a month. When the rain stopped, I'd be there to wipe it down within 24hrs.

I always pulled the drain plug. I would recommend an auto bilge setup, and a solar battery charger.

I feel sorry for the person who get the job of scrubing out the interior, and washing down the engine. :thumbsdown:grumble:

Help me understand why insurance would cover this.

It is neglect and no single peril caused this but rather numerous rains and owner neglect.

Starter, alternator, trim pump are all junk to start with. Anything electrical below that water is junk. Solenoids on the trim pump, junk. Looks like it's high enough to go down the intake, thats gonna need a valve job if so. Gimbal bearing is underwater, it's junk. Ujoints, probably junk. Any relays on the motor, junk. Spark plugs and distributor, junk. Lol, it's gonna be expensive..... transom and stringers may be rotted.

Good luck getting the outdrive off. I would try that right away. I can see that job costing more than what the boat is even worth.
