The flights around Phoenix flat suck anymore. I basically tapped out on dove hunting. Did a side trip for dove in the sunflower fields of South Africa several years ago, shot 4,000 shotgun shells between three guys in one day. I think I might have hit 4-5 of em :rolleyes:

I get out of the heat and will be hunting in either Independance or Bishop. Usually very good hunting up there, they nest in the tree in town and fly to water at the Owens river. Usually limit out pretty quick, then head to the lakes for some trout fishing.

I have a 150 acre farm about an hour from my home that I'm planning on hunting this weekend if the hurricane doesn't rain us out. Got about 70 acres of corn that my renter is cutting today and tomorrow he's gonna sow wheat before the rains get here Thursday. I was down there 2 weeks ago and the power lines up and down the road were covered up with doves. :D :D

I'm taking off Thursday afternoon and driving up there and staying in my cabin if it's not raining pitch forks and monkey shit...

Haha we would stay at the Motel in town there. Throw all the tables and chairs in the pool after the morning shoot just to cool off...:thumbsup

Bring a lot of shells. :D

I remember when I was but a lad, my folks always took me like I said down to Gila Bend, My poor Mother, she would be standing in a pile of shells 8 inches deep and never ever hit one but have an absolute ball doing it. :thumbsup

Ive been out in willow valley the last 2 weekends scouting and it seems the monsoons have pushed most of the dove out. Were coming back out Thursday I will scout Thursday and Friday but not sure if i will hunt this weekend. The following weekend we will be hunting in Bakersfield where we normally hunt. My brother inlaw says the dove are insane up there this year.

If I wasn't going to the river this weekend I'd so horn in on that...Going to have to pick your brain about any chance of finding a deer in some of these local hills.

A bunch of poachers came through last year and about ruined the herd. We've only seen just a few deer left and the boys that own the dirt are feeding them and protecting them as best they can to get them built back up. No deer hunting for a while.

Bummer. What about Azusa Canyon, Big Bear etc. Still tags available. Not like the Sierra's. Probably have better chances of winning the Mega Millions that winning that tag lottery.

I've been putting in for Bishop for years. Never got it so I gave up. We've got family in Nebraska so we usually just go back there. I haven't been in a few years though. Gotta get back out there.

I've seen some huge bucks up there. There are a few spots off the 395 where the deer hang out. We used to drive into Kennedy Meadows and pack up to Monache for a week. Deer everywhere up there.

There's a guy I work with that somehow keeps gettin tags for up there. Don't know how he's doing it. He's pulled some real nice bucks out of the area. The deer taste better from back east though. :D

Yeah I'm hoping to get back on the company trip this year. Local is much less expensive than out of state though.

There's plenty of food and water around here for them. This doe fell into the stock pond and about froze to death. We pulled her out, warmed her up and after a couple hours a nice 3X4 came down the canyon and away she went...

This is true. Luckily when we go back easy we have family to stay with and free land to hunt on. And hunting season is like a week long holiday back there. Parties at different homes every night. Really is a great time.

Hunted at C.R.I.T. it was the worst opener I've ever seen in over 25yrs. Might have to go back to Wickenberg or Yuma.
Looking for somewhere in Kulifornia, any sugestions ?

Your right about the Morons, in fact it seemed less than normal, we did not limit out at all. We were at the end of First St. Years past it's been great, not so much this year.:grumble:

Had some friends go to Yuma, they all limited out by 7am.
