For anyone considering posting in here, you have to be able to tune out the noise. You know... the Republican locals with turrets who scream out "FUCK YOU!" to everyone who disagrees. You also have to be OK with them following you to other forums and nay saying every God damn thing you say. They do this because they aren't capable of disagreeing with anyone. My Lounge invitation thread pretty much tells the story.

... but if you enjoy discussion of politics, world events, and whatever else, you may enjoy it here. Just step over the bums in the street and continue walking. You might find it's worth the journey.

Have you looked at yourself lately? Faux News, it's George Bush's fault, the Iraq war, the South is racist, republicans want a return to slavery.

Tom, I don't "read your thoughts" I read what you post and consider you as just another poster. I both agree and disagree at times. Some posts you're over the plate and others it's in the dirt, such is life.

I do miss the days where you offered a full 2-3 page reply though. :)

Honestly... as a self proclaimed reformed Republican... there is a lot of truth to the above statement.

Fox news is so bad that it is a mockery of actual news. Worse than CNN by a damn sight. The Colbert report is almost indistinguishable from it.

GW fucked some stuff up. No question. Probably a bunch of the stuff I would have fucked up if I was in his seat, but make no mistake about it... we are paying for some of his ineptitude and bad judgment every day.

The South is fucking racist. I have been there, traveled, lived and worked there. They are racist as fuck, and not apologetic about it.

Republicans would certainly like a return to white supremacy for the most part. They are terrified of being in the minority, and the average voting age of Republicans is dropping off the planet like flies, with literally nobody filling the ranks in from the bottom. I for one will never vote Republican again. I will be voting Libertarian or Independent until we get another party in the mix. I will not reward the party with my vote for sending another religious zealot up to the ballot box.

7 out of 10 Republican candidates for President claimed they don't believe in evolution. How the fuck are you supposed to run a country if you are that fucking stupid.

Wes, are you sure that is an objective position? What if a good man comes along on the Republican ticket? He might clean up the party.

I don't know what you think about George Bush Sr. but I have a lot of respect for him. He was uninspiring but competent. I consider that ideal. No joke.

The party has gone off the rails but it could come back. The solution will require people like you to support positive change within the party. The more people abandon the party, the more things will shift Democrat.

I know you folks have a very specific view but I would contend your country would be better off with Democrats in power, once in a while. The worst case scenario, in my opinion, is to have one party dominate. Monopolies are never a good thing. You want the best Democrat, you have to field a good Republican. You want the best Republican, you have to field a good Democrat. Simple competition.

My whole reason for living is to not tell people how to vote. Any vote, any reason, is legit. ... but I like to shine some light in dark places and have a look at how honest the commentary is. Just because I like one particular guy doesn't mean I would lie for him. Even if I knew it would get him into power and without my lie, he would lose an election, I'd let him go down. Point being, I respect your vote and don't challenge you or anyone on that.

I'm just here to suggest that Obama is not overtly a racist or terrorist. He was born in the United States of America and 500bbc is the biggest jackass this side of Johnny Knoxville.

I won't rule it out, but the Republican party has become one with the religious right. Such that it can't move forward without it's support. It is the single largest fund raiser and political influence... even more than big business. I will never again run for a candidate that won't admit they believe in evolution for starters.

I don't know what you think about George Bush Sr. but I have a lot of respect for him. He was uninspiring but competent. I consider that ideal. No joke.

He was fine, and uninspiring like you said, but he was really an extension of the Reagan years... but with less character. He lost to Clinton because of this.

The party has gone off the rails but it could come back. The solution will require people like you to support positive change within the party. The more people abandon the party, the more things will shift Democrat.

Democrats, much like Republicans are wildly divided right now. Most aren't liberals in the traditional sense. The vast majority are far more moderate than the party would indicate. I think the democratic party, if it came to prominence, would split into the idiotic left and a centric sect that I would vote to support.

It has been said before that Democrats are great whistle-blowers, but incompetent achievers. They bring to light a lot of problems with no resolutions. The Republicans tend to go fix those problems, and in doing so piss a bunch of people off. The cycle then repeats, with Dems coming into power, doing nothing, so Republicans get elected, fix a bunch of shit and piss everyone off and lose the next election.

I'm just here to suggest that Obama is not overtly a racist or terrorist. He was born in the United States of America and 500bbc is the biggest jackass this side of Johnny Knoxville.

I think Obama is racist. I really do. And I think he is somebody's terrorist... just as I'm sure I would qualify in someone's estimation. I think he was born here, but can't prove it. I don't give a shit. I personally don't think anything of the requirement that you be born here to be President. If you get the most votes... you are it.

I don't think Obama wields any real authority. He was put there, and the people pulling his strings aren't apparent yet.

You talking about FOX commentary or news? They are hard news until 5:00 then commentary, which is all over the chart. I can name more liberals on FOX then there are conservatives combined in the rest of media, network and cable.

Don't bother voting if you're going to vote straight Libertarian or Independent unless they actually field a viable candidate, I changed my registration to independent long ago, cold and lonely candidate wise.

GW did fuck up big time as all presidents do we raked him over the coals quite well back on HB.
The current sack of crap though is deploying troops in Afghanistan just for photo op/ cannon fodder. I have a friend, Navy pilot, going on tour in August with the ROE reading bend over and take it.

You've been to a different part of the South than me, I see more racism here in LA than in the South, unless you're talking about my granny 50 + years ago.

Name a presidential candidate in the last election that didn't profess their Christian faith.

I will not reward anyone for mere party affiliation, and the two most important issues for me, at this point in my life is a support of women's right to abortion and belief in evolution... however you get around that issue religiously is unimportant.

I'm not saying there isn't racism rampant in our country... or worse, that the minority races aren't doing anything to dispel the stereotypes and bigotry. I am just saying that it is prevalent in the south, specifically where I have traveled in Atlanta, Jacksonville, Tampa, New Orleans, Houston, Brownsville and Mobile. Memphis was pretty bad too. For the most part... I could actually see why the racism exists too... Like I said... nothing to dispel the stereotypes.

Name a presidential candidate in the last election that didn't profess their Christian faith.

You are making my point... I have nobody to vote for.

I believe Mark Twain said that religion was invented when the first con man met the first fool.

With respect to presidential candidates not wearing religion on their sleeve, see republican candidate Gary Johnson who was excluded in the debates, with the exception of the New Mexico debate, and ended up running on the libertarian ticket.

I liked him a lot.

He got screwed over but not nearly as bad as Ron Paul.
