Roxy freaks out with wind and thunder.....

I have the opposite problem. My dog loves guns and fireworks so the thunder doesn't bug her. But on any normal day, she has major separation anxiety. She eats a bed every 4-6 weeks. Tonight, I am going to Home Depot to buy materials to start dog proofing my first floor screens.

I guess you're lucky... not much thunder in Socal.

On a side note, we have a Nest camera in our living room. It's a wifi camera. So when we keep the dog inside, we can watch her all day and yell at her through the camera if she's doing something stupid. It might help your situation if you come home to that more often.

Get your dog a thunder shirt. One of mine was freakin this morning. We put it on her and it helped quite a bit. It fits tight around the dog, kinda giving them a secure feel.

We tried one with our lab. No go. My dog will hide and piss and shit herself so we have to medicate her.

Never had a Dog like this before but she has been a consistent nightmare for nearly 11 years with thunder and the 4th of July boom boom. Shes a great dog so we just help her the best we can.

Bigbore I feel your pain.

Feel your pain BB500r. Long loud thunder right overhead in San Marcos this morning, pups try to hide in the bathroom in the middle of the house but it was too much, scared the pee outta one of them.

Damn.... That sucks! I feel your pain. My German shepherd couldn't care less about thunder or gun fire. But she has done plenty to piss me off

Hehe, we have a nest camera for the dog too. Started out with it mounted on her crate so I could check in on her. Now that we don't have to crate her anymore we have it placed in the house where we can see her when we're gone for the day. Love that camera.

My dog has never loved this thunder or fireworks but she doesn't go bat shit crazy.

She does and always has hated door Bells or certain dings or bongs. When I got my iPhone last year it would do a email or text Bing via the cloud on my iPad that I keep in my room. Our 18lb Boston terrier sat in the room freaking out trying to escape with us gone and my iPad evidently going off while we were at work....took me two days to figure out what the problem was[emoji12][emoji17] ImageUploadedByTapatalk1457405713.839460.jpg

that would be a dead dog at my house.

And you'd be a piece of shit dog owner...and a general piece of shit in my eyes for killing a dog because it's scared shitless and doesn't know what's happening or what to do.

Fuck you.

I have 2 dogs...one flew outta the room when the thunder crashed, our male picked up his head and growled at it. I got up, the female was tail between her legs and no more than 6 inches away from me until it slowed down...I gave a few treats and some love, she calmed down. The male didn't give a shit. Lol

4th of July both of em lose it. We keep them inside after a shot of Benedryl and some attention and that seems to help

One of the two "mighty" Dobermans taking refuge today in the master bedroom closet. Not so much the thunder but the strong wind.
The wind blew open the upstairs doors and slammed the master door shut.
Went up and closed the doors out to the balcony and the dog isn't in the room. She's peaking around the door from the closet looking to see if it's clear.:rolleyes
She's a nut.
At the same time,I could say "Squirrel!!!" And:eek she would bolt through the dog door out back in the wind, rain, puddles, mud to find it.

Fortunately mine haven't destroyed any thing.Unless you count the spot on the carpet that looks more worn than the rest, from her trying to dig a hole when it's windy.:grumble:

Five in the morning. The old female is wigging out at the thunder and wind and the puppy is like no big deal.. Had to listen to her pant for an hour.. She used to be good with it but old age has caught up with her.. doesnt help that she is nearly blind..

Glad I'm not the only one. This happened last year at the river because of thunder. We were out to dinner and she locked herself in the bathroom and was hell bent on getting out

We had a Collie years ago that would freak out over thunder.....He'd jump in bed with us and try and hide under the covers and pillows. Trying to sleep was over until the storm ended.:yikes

I've never had this problem

My Husky didn't care and now none of the 3 little ones care.

Thats just crazy hate to see how they would react if there was an Earthquake

This guy does not like to be left alone in a closed room. He has destroyed sheetrock, torn up door frames, but this time he found the most effective course of action.:grumble:
He has protected my place for 15 years now, I owe him. DSCN3344.jpg

Get your dog a thunder shirt. One of mine was freakin this morning. We put it on her and it helped quite a bit. It fits tight around the dog, kinda giving them a secure feel.

My dog was going under and over our fence in the backyard. She's a pointer (I think you have a couple?), so she can do it fairly easily. But she usually ends up tearing up her legs or stomach in the process. It's easier to leave out of the back of the property but she doesn't. She wants to go out the front where we leave in our vehicles. My neighbor told me if I don't drive my truck that day and she gets out, she just sits under it. It sucks because we have a corner lot with a big backyard... and she still wants to get out.

Now I have an electric fence underneath our normal fence. It was the only way. We also got her a thunder jacket. I'm not sure if it really does much because she still shakes when then collar gets put on in the morning... but when we get home, you can tell she forgot about the collar and has been running around the backyard all day. At the very least, the thunder jacket keeps her from getting torn up when she's running around in the backyard.

She's a great dog when we're home but the separation anxiety gets her when we're gone.

Back to the OP... the thunder jacket is like $35 on amazon, so it's probably worth a try.
