I too have used them on my 17 cummins.

I was using oem, tried wix on 2 separate occasions and have had issues with the orings shrinking on the engine bay fuel filter so i went back to oem.

I gave docs a try and this is my 3 go with no issues in the oil filter or fuel filters. Its nice because its a complete filter kit and its affordable and so far quality has met my expectations.

Why would you buy cheap fuel filters for a modern ultra high pressure diesel engine? It’s not worth risking the ridiculously priced pumps and injectors.

Never ever instal Wix (Oriellys, Napa) or any other cheap filter on a modern diesel.

OEM (preferable)
Baldwin
Fleetguard
Luberfiner
^^ all good filters

The cheap filters use a filter media that is not consistent.

Oriellys fuel filters have ruined more fuel systems than any other thing I have seen.

These “Docs” are just a repackaged filter.

The cost of filters vs. a catastrophic failure seems like a no brainer to me.

Find a Baldwin dealer and try to get a fleet price if you want to save some money otherwise stick with OEM.

Buy any filter you want for the air and oil but the fuel system is much more critical because of the extreme pressure needed and the process it takes o do that.

I would strongly advise not getting fuel filters (or most other auto-parts) on amazon, so many are knock offs. for my 2018 I just bit the bullet and get both filters from a mopar dealer.

This, and you can usually get a discount if you buy multiple. I only use the Mopar filters.... BTW orielly's will price match them if you find them cheaper.

I did a lot of research as filters and oil are a big deal for me and the consensus was Chinese garbage for the Doc's. I tend to use Baldwin, Cat, certain OEM filters, but ti really depends on the application. Ford 6 liter I think I used K&N at the time, but I would probably just go with Baldwin.

Would you trust this? My assumption is that it is a legit Mopar product but what do I know lol. Thinking about this kit for my first change after purchasing my '18

Nope, look at the seller, its not Mopar (Jamlyn-supply)

This is why I am asking. I have seen many adds for Docs and wanted to know if they are any good. I ALWAYS use oem on my truck. It’s a ford…….

Sorry didn’t mean to come off like a prick.

I work on diesels every day and am appalled at the trashy Chinesium crap that is being sold.

Go OEM and make it easy.

Cheap filters like Wix, Fram, etc. all use a very sneaky trick when rating their filters. They call it a “nominal“ rating.
Industrial quality and OEM’s use the “absolute” rating.

Nominal
“Nominal ratings represent the average particle size that a filter is expected to capture efficiently. It indicates the filter's ability to retain a significant portion of particles at a specified size but does not guarantee the capture of all particles above that size. For example, a filter with a nominal rating of 10 microns means that it can efficiently capture a substantial portion of particles that are 10 microns or larger, but it may allow smaller particles to pass through.”

Absolute means just that absolutely captures what ever it is rated for.

See the little tricK? Its absolute bullshit to use a nominal rated filter.

This whole filter ratings scam has cost people and companies a huge amount of money from an industry that is unethical.
I have often said companies like Oriellys should have a class action lawsuit filled against them for this mess.
I have seen more fuel systems ruined by subpar filters than you can imagine.

Light diesel owners and fuel filters are an insane brew. They will spend money and go to the ends of sanity posting pictures, debating over brands, arguing idiotic theories and retarded folklore in a quest to find the Holy Grail of fuel filters for their rattling POS.

The smart man buys them in bulk from manufacturers that sell the same folded piece of paper to these re-brand retailers that sell them for 500% or more than what they cost.

Something to consider on the overpriced and pita Cummins/ram filters is converting the fuel ones to spin on cat ones… cheaper and better filtration.

This is on my short list of projects for this year.

Been using Wix on my 7.3 forever with no issues.

I was told Some of their filters are made here, and some are made over seas.

Any truth to this?

Would it make any difference?

-Thanks

A lot of the Wix are good quality but you can’t trust their ratings and in the ultra high pressure applications they are not reliable.

I suspect your 7.3 filter is an old part number that is one of the good ones plus the 7.3 is not an ultra high pressure system.
The 7.3 International (30+ year old design) filter is most likely made by the same place as the OEM.
Another advantage you have is that your truck isn’t operating in a climate with 120 degree swing in ambient temperatures.

Wix makes a good part of the Napa filters. All the Napa Gold (?) are Wix.
Wix also makes a large part of Oriellys filters.

Keep in mind the filter ratings I wrote about above. Its not just good or bad its the actual filter micron ratings and how they rate it.

Champ Labs manufactures filters for a lot of brands listed. I go out of my way to avoid them now based on the fact that First Brands purchased them a couple year ago....and they are a shit company that does nothing but fuck up everything they touch.

Baldwin appears not to be made by Champ, so I'd go with them or China before anything coming out of Champ Labs.

First Brands took our worthless president of Centric Parts and reassigned him to GM of the filtration division.
