I have these and regular rope. Just depends where I dock. If topoc I use the bungee to center the boat. But after going to the DCB regatta it made me more anal on the rope game haha. I won’t forget the owner of Wild Child spent 15mins teaching his friend how to make it clean.

All of my ropes are "dock lines" with a loop stitched into one end. I use the loop end on my boat cleat, and tie to the dock cleat. I'm not a fan of the bungee dock lines. They allow for too much movement in my experience. I have 6' to 20' lines on hand so depending on the situation, I can get it secured. Of course, no matter what I do, my wife is always there to ask, "are you sure it's not going to hit the dock?"

Got a couple of these years ago as a gift and stuck with them. (Probably got them because my knots/tie off skills sucked). They’re easily adjustable and work better than anything I’ve used.

I’ve use the lines from Spankys in Parker for years and years and they’ve been great. (Different colors every time to match the boat because I’m bougie)

Just make sure to coil the remaining dock line so people know you’re a fucking BOSS.

Walmart, been using these for years, don't always need them tho because sometimes I'll just pick the slip that already has some lines and bumpers already set up...

I went to west marine & peeled off a couple lengths of samson line from their bulk spools.
Burned the ends so they don't fray back.
When I dock, I just tie a quick bowline on the boat side and do a standard cleat wrap on the dock.
I like having the 2 lengths open so If I ever need some line for something else, I've got it.
I square-knot'd them together once last year & towed a jet ski back to the dock for them.
I keep them under the seat wrapped up with electricians extension cord style wrap. . . no storage tangles, & 1 pull and I'm ready to go.

(Edit) . . . when I launch solo, I square knot the 2 lines together, tie one off to the bow, and the other to the trailer tongue.
Back to boat in till it floats then tap the brakes & the boat slides off . . . pull the truck forward a bit, then throw it in park, step out & untie the line . . . then walk the bow /boat over to the dock. E-Z.

I just received my stuff about a week ago. Spoke with Maggie (I think her name is) and she couldn’t have been more helpful.

Got a complete package….anchor rope, dock lines, fender ties, a couple lines for my shore spikes, carrying bags. Lots of colors to choose from. Totally customizable. Had it at my front door in just about a week.

I use Spanky’s lines and I have some bungees too. Fenders with long dock lines attached seem like the move, working on that for this season.

Bungees for quick tie ups and real lines for slips/longer term. I’ll sometimes add the bungees to the other side to keep everything snug too.

Learn to tie cleat hitch knots(youtube) and it really becomes easy. Thats the part I see most people struggle with. It’s extremely easy once you do it a few times.

I got my dad top knot lines years ago for Father’s Day. It was the St. George 2 in 1 version. He loves it and they are still soft.

We have spanky ropes on the Howard. Not sure if they still make custom ropes, but they were able to make it with the fender and dock tie all in one.

This is what I use....the only time I have ever needed to replace was when they disappear or I got a new boat...but Walmart, ewww go be poor somewhere else, I pay extra for mine and buy them at the local boat shop....

Might be worth calling Spanky’s in Parker and giving them the list for a price. They will sew custom tags on the ropes and everything too just can’t remember if they had to be provided with the tags. Had them sew a few ropes onto my pin cleats for me when I got my boat without regular cleats.

Been using these lines i bought off Amazon for the last 8 years, work great.

Nothing fancy but they do the job and have held up well

1/2" x 15' $23 free ship Amazon.

The Spanky's stuff looks nice and price is good too, if you want to be one of the cool kids.
Having 7/16 instead of 1/2" might be good, it would help leave a little more room on the cleat when tying off.
Some of the docks out there have tiny little busted ass cleats

This is a great starting point.
My suggestion to this is pass on the towline.
Increase the anchor line to 100' and spike line to 25'
Add a Danik Hook to each anchor and spike.

Stretch n slide rope. So much easier and multiple hook up points. I’ve used many types and these are by far the best. I pretty much exclusively use these. Also have standard ropes as well for backup.

I know I've been boating my whole life. But I still don't know what this tie down rope thing or whatever it is you guys are talking about for? If I buy some what am I supposed to do with them? For instance when I go up to the sand bar. I usually just trim my motor all the way down to dig my prop down in the sand. The boat doesn't seem to go anywhere.

In 30 years of owning a boat....I can't say I've ever tied it to a dock.

Anchor, yes.
Sandspike...yes

A few times on a line hanging off the downriver side of a dock, but never in a slip.
