I put mine on. One less excuse to be stopped for a "safety" inspection.

Totally. hate being stopped. If they send the sticker just put it on and go. You are not the only goober with the sticker on your boat.

it's all about more revenue for taxifornia and without one bit going to control it

They are impossible to control, and just about every lake has them now.. The ones that don't will soon, it doesn't matter what you do with quarantines etc.. You can't stop the spread of them.

Just another way for California to get more money from us RD :grumble:

Why not just raise the registration 10 - 20 bucks? Why a separate sticker? Just seems like a lot more paper work and expenditures then needed.

The sticker proves that you have paid the mussel fees. You can renew your reg and get a sticker WITHOUT paying for and receiving a mussel sticker. Ocean boats aren't required to pay or post a mussel sticker.

The mussel sticker proves that you haven't tried to cheat the system by NOT paying the inland lakes fees but still using your boat on inland waters.

you need a 2/3 majority vote to increase a tax------no voting for added "FEES" or made up fees

sad but true on the spread
was reading Powell has it worse than original thoughts

Where do you boat?

Powell, Mead, Mohave, or the Laughlin/Bullhead to north of Aztec Rd. bridge then NO!

South of Aztec Rd. bridge, any lake/river in CA, and or the Delta then YES!

It sends a message to the Mussel not to attach itself to YOUR boat...

Ha! :p :D

I haven't been to Castaic in probably 25 years.... :p :D

That's what they did. It went from 25 to 35 and the 10 extra pays for the 13 dollar sticker. I'd bet that's the price the state paid per sticker from its lowest bid vendor.

X2. I paid the extra $16 for the mussel tax. When I got my registration no mussel sticker. A couple of months later, get a check for $16 from the DMV. :headscratch:

I haven't got a refund but just don't want to be pulled over every 5 seconds.

Same here, I don't have those tags on either of my boats. Do they pull you over on the water or when towing? How do I get them?

Why can't they just make it to where you don't get the new registration sticker without paying the fee, no need for a seperat stick

Im guessing as long as it doesnt say CA on the side of your boat your good. In more ways than one.... lol

Although I dont see AZ far behind once they see it as an easy revenue generator.

I still quite can't figure out the purpose of the sticker?

RD

Neither can I, since you have to pay the fee to get your new tags, it is a waste of money. Mine went in the glove box. F-em.

I looked it up on the web and found this on the home page...

What if I do not pay the fee or do not place the stickers on my boat?

answer--"Law enforcement officers may stop a fresh water boater operating a vessel without the Mussel Fee stickers".

guess i need to get myself one..
