Most diesels will start in temps over 40*F or so without glow plugs or grid heaters. If you can live with the light, you probably won't even notice the issue.

My 04 1/2 LLY, 165K miles had the same code a month ago. Found an AC Delco module on E-bay for about $80. Easy to change, working great.... BTW, I have never had to change a glow plug yet.... Hope this helps...

If it's a California truck just change the glow plug. Easy to do under 20 bucks. If it's a non smog truck prob the module. I go through 2 or 3 plugs a year.

WTF??
My 05 has 240,000 mi and I haven't change one plug yet. 11+ years

Go figure. I just change them myself. Throws the code I use a test light to figure which one swaps out in ten minutes.

Call the dealer might still be under warranty. I beleive their was a service bulletin and Chevy extended out the warranty im not sure what the extension was but it might be worth a call.

May not be the module, could be a dirty connector, or harness issue. or as a few have said a glow plug issue. I would do some more diagnostic work before throwing parts at her, make sure you check the battery connections and connectors for cleanliness. if you have the means take a look at the freeze frame data and see what the conditions were when the DTC set.

I had the same issue, it was the module. You can test each plug, but it's a pain in the ass and more than likely is the module.
