Before you say anything, realize this is a small town and in the small town way of life people help each other.

The guy that bought the Dixie Belle is asking for anybody that has some free time this weekend to help him come out and sand it. He has gone way over budget on the remodel of the boat and is trying to get it finished up ASAP.

Ryan from slide Anchor will be don there with his crew. I’ll try to run down there for the morning and put in sometime.

I don’t want to make it sound like it is totally donated time though. They will be doing the maiden voyage and anybody that helps out is obviously gonna be on it.

Plus Ryan is having Niko’s come down and serve lunch for all the volunteers that are out there as well.

So I am assuming they hope to refloat it again, its been in that storage lot for years. What was it before, just sight seeing or was their dinner on it as well?

I would suggest misters to keep the dust down...but that city probably knows way more about sanding than anywhere. I didn't know someone was restoring it. It will be cool to see it on the water. Just about the biggest boat I've seen on blocks...certainly in the middle of the desert!

Take a look at the shipyards of Dubai. The Dixie Belle restoration has been going on for a number of years. Likely desert wind, sanding and misters could be a tough mix. Particle masks would be good. In any case, it is a great small town effort. Thanks RD for posting.
