Anyone been to Disney World? We're looking at going on vacation in January and looking for places. If I'm reading right, everyone want's 1500+ for a package at Disney world.

That seems a litter excessive with no airfare. I get to fly for free basically anywhere in the 48. Any hook ups for Disney World or any good vacation spots??

gotta pay the Disney vig.. :)

if you get free airfare , just pay the hotel\ticket prices through Disney.

there are thousands of options for a Disney vacation. I would recommend staying onsite for the Disney experience for the first time
and the next time maybe an off site timeshare rental

but what do I know my wife and daughter are there this week and my dumbass had to work :(

That's what I'm thinking, all the packages include airfare and rental cars, just need hotel and tickets!

through Disney.com you can get hotel and tickets only. don't click the button to add airfare?
my personal opinion especially if your staying onsite you don't need a rental car they have excellent transportation to/from the airport and around all the parks, hotels, downtown Disney.

Check out Mystic Dunes. The resort property is awesome. I stay there three times a year when I am there playing ball. It's 5-10 minutes from all Disney parks. They are condo style places. There is golf, miniature golf, movie night at the pools etc. as for the Disney Parks if you have somebody that is current or ex military you can get 3 day park hoppers for like $150 each on base. Then you can go to all the parks. Parking for the day is good at all parks if you park hop. Mystic Dunes is about 15-20 minutes from the airport. Also you can save so much money staying here by hitting the grocery store and doing breakfast etc. there and save that money.

Did this a few years ago the weekend after the public school kids go back, we have a long weekend for a local event. We went all Disney with meals. The only thing that wasn't Disney was the ride to the park, the Disney busses run on a schedule and there was an long wait between our incoming flight and the next bus. The whole complex is huge and there's no reason to leave once your there. If you have small kids 1 park at a time is probably plenty, if you have middle school kids or older spring for the park hopper passes and take some comfortable shoes that you can put some miles on.

We stayed at a Hotel across the street. the bridge took us right into Disney Springs, they also have free shuttle buses at the hotel.

jm2c adding to info. in park transportation.....
stay at a transportation HUB hotel. all busses go everywhere but not directly. they go to a HUB. you get off that bus and wait for another at the HUB. then onto your destination. I dont recall which but you can ask. Transportation HUB hotels go directly to whatever Park. And directly back. Saves alot of time.

We've been 3 times.
If you can afford to stay within the resort it's much better.
Transportation is excellent, the properties and food are superb.

We did the meals inclusive last time and it was great and that's the trouble with Disney.
If something is good they either run the price up, or eliminate parts to juice their bottom line.
So it may have changed. Probably has.

Really study the things you may want to see.
Wingin' it you may miss something.

We like the restaurant Boma the best.
African buffett.
Kids thought it would be black people in loin cloths swallowing fire while doing the limbo, eating Giraffe drumsticks, peacock tongues on toothpicks.
It wasn't.
It was fantastic unique food.

If you don't need to be in a Disney hotel, I always recommend the Hilton Orlando Bonnet Creek. it's on property, modern & stylish, rates are good, and a great pool area. Close to everything. Even have golf if that's your thing.

If you have any question regarding Disney World feel free to message me. We've been annual passholders for 3 years.

We did that but the lines for the buses were redicously long at night.

This is where the Grand Floridian, Contemporary, and Polynesian earn their money. The whole bus / transportation station at night... My #1 dislike about going.

I think the busses are long pretty much anywhere, I've stayed in the fort wilderness rv camp ground and the waits are long there too.

159 a night for a weekend vs the cheapest Disney property (for this weekend) is 350. A top of the line Hilton vs Disney's Motel 6

I've stayed in a bunch of Disney properties. All of them are nice, even the lipstick on a pig All Stars. Disney is what you make it. You can stay off property at the Knights Inn for $40 a night, bring your own food and drink into the park, and budget for a decent dinner. We've done this to keep cost down because shit can add up super quick. Other times we didn't have a care in the world and 500 a night at the Poly, character breakfast, dinner at Epcot or Disney Springs, etc.

Thanks everyone.

We were thinking about a all star resort but after what is said here, probably not.

We want to hit one park a day, may have found a friend to comp tickets so hoping to dump about 1K into the hotel stay, Sunday-Friday.

Glad you had fun!! I'll be there next month for 8 days then hopping on a Disney Cruise. I plan on doing some bass fishing and watching some spring training baseball at the ESPN Center.

I went last year. Totally over rated. $5,000 down the drain.

I'd have to agree, if your dropping some coin on it. One kicker for us, all the tickets were comped and when we saw one way non-stop airfare for $78, what the hell...

The technology is pretty amazing though. No more paper tickets, it's a credit card type delio. You just hold it up to the reader and bam. We did all our fast passes with it, with their App. It's nice all the parks have wifi through out.

Still probably spent 5-6 hundred on food, nothing too fancy either. That's where they make a killing...

Out of all the parks, I liked Animal Kingdom the best.
Epcot was 2nd just cause of the restaurants and kick back vibe.

We went to Sea World also... not sure why lol
