Try getting a sticker in Az might be faster. You could get a Lic plate for it.

nice bike
I have a Husaberg fe501 that needs the same deal, I just haven’t spent the time on it.

Good Luck!

AZ is always the right answer. But if ya really need it verified in CA, I just took my trailer down to a small CHP office in Temecula and the guy at the front desk did it in 5 minutes. He actually seemed happy I was there to give him something to do. Try to find a smaller office near where you are at.

Bikes in Upland, DMV wouldn't do it, idk.
It sounds like you just need to take the bike to a local law enforcement agency to request a VIN verification. Is that all you need to do?? If that's the case, call UPD and have one of their motor officers do it for you. You can download the form from the CA DMV website if they don't have one. You might also have to complete a simple "Statement of facts" as well. Unless I'm missing something, that "Should" be all that you need to do. Then take the bike and the completed forms to your AAA office and they will submit everything to the DMV for you.

Just did this to register a dirt bike that fell out of the system. I had to take it to CHP for VIN inspection and then took the paperwork to DMV. AAA would not touch it.

The records do not fall out of the DMV system. especially on an 04, they told you that?. You are possibly looking at a load of back fees if it was not put in non-op status. transfer of ownership does not make those charges go away. AZ Is your best bet. i’ve done this more times than I can count. If you want to get it done show up at the Tustin CHP right off the 55 and 17th St. and go up to the window and tell them you need the verification done. they will bitch at you if you don’t have an appointment and you will have to wait but they will usually do it.

With it off their system it is highly unlikely to have back fees versus it being a delinquent "on" their system.

DMV says its not in there. This is the reason I have to start over, and why this bike is still around lol.

Anyone want it w out paperwork......? give me 2k and u deal w it lol. It once had a Cal green sticker but the renewals stopped coming and we have since had new bikes and this one got left behind. Originally bought it at Walts in Havasu in 2004.

Geoff - I had to do a Vin check on the Bitz. AAA in Temecula by the mall did it for me. If you have AAA I’d call them. It was a five minute ordeal, painless.

I went through this a year ago with my daughters TRX250R. AAA said it fell off and needed to be inspected. DMV was a month out for that. Registered it in AZ. No questions asked and no hoops to jump through.

Do you have your original purchase paperwork?
That's one of my fav bikes I had an 03, 05, 07 and the 03/04 with the 4 speed trans was my favorite drive package. I don't need it but it should be easy for someone to deal with in az. The prices of used bikes are dropping so take what you can get before it get's any hotter or hold it until thanksgiving.. I'd take the #'s off so it doesn't look like a race bike. Just a thought.

California DMV doesn’t fact purge all records generally between 5 to 6 years after being in active. Sounds like he needs the statement of facts which would have the Vin inspection on one side. Any peace officer in the state of California can provide that.

Okay, I’m still not buyin the purged thing, but always ready to learn. It used to be anything on record after about say, ‘96 will always be there. Is this an OHV thing maybe?
Only problem I ever had with the DMV inspector, I had a bike with a frame number 0003, And an engine number 0005, he said that’s not possible!😂

Some registration services can do this, they have to be a licensed VIN verifier. And a few a thugs, but that is another story.

As to VIN "003". Before 1981 a number of trailers and vehicles had duplicate VIN's. It is rare, but this does exist. In this case, the CA DMV adds a duplicate VIN in the registration database, they are separate but in a sense binded. The separation occurs with the different titleholder names.

I just had to do this for my Honda 70 I sold to a member on here. All I needed to do was take the bike to DMV have them do a VIN verification, fill out a few forms, bring your last registration, photo ID and pay like $30ish. They gave me the new registration right there.

Any law enforcement buddy can do it as well. Just VIN verify.
