What DI System are you using?

Trying to get my Home Boat Detailing setup dialed in before summer hits. One thing I wanted to add this year is a DI Water (deionized water) Station. Hoping this will cut down on the amount of Boat Wipe Solution I use. I probably use 1/2 a bottle each time. Y'all know that stuff isn't exactly cheap, lol. The other thing is I'm hoping to cut down on the amount of time needed to clean the boat after being on the lake all day. When it's 110F Havasu Hot AF outside I'd much rather be in the A/C or the Pool drinking a coldie! 🍻

I built this so I'm not stuck with equipment mounted to the garage wall. For DI, I used the CR Spotless setup. It works great and is super easy to use and maintain.

Simple Chuck by CR Spotless..

Rigged it to a hand dolly and added the pressure washer.
Valves control whether i'm using straight water or the DI water

I have to change cartridges about every 9-12 months

Any idea how many truck washes that would be? I have no clue how much water is used each time to estimate how much 300gal will get me.
I assume you use regular hose water to wash and rinse then go over with the spotless?

Best thing I’ve done was having Detail Specialties Ceramic Coat my boat. Water spots wipe off with no issues with a little bit of ice chest water, as well it comes with a lifetime of detail spray.
Last year i did the 300g tank on a trailer and it worked great but still time consuming, haven’t touched that this year as there’s no need with the ceramic.

I bought the dual bed first then after doing some research figured out that the mixed bed would work just as well. The single bottle is easier to move around and only having to recharge one bottle is also easier. They both work great.

I use an Unger window washing unit and it works great but the resin doesn't seem to last very long. Looking at the on the go unit as it seems to get better mileage on the resin.

I wash truck and 2 cars at least once a week. RV maybe 6-8 times a year.... that takes considerately more rinse as I include the roof

I don't do the boat but I'm sure it would take very little to rinse it

Yes, wash and rinse with regular water and then final quick rinse with DI... I try to be frugal with the DI. The pressure washer is pretty frugal..

My last cartridge replacement I got 14 months, but that was rare. We got so much rain I didn't wash the cars near that often..

I have a Chuck system in San Diego it’s lasted a few years to final rinse my wife’s car.

I have a dual filter CR spotless system in havasu been setting it up and not quite done with my cart
water pressure plays a roll, you want to slow down the filter process, RV style 35psi pressure regulator on the fill side

these tubes work great in the 20 system

I replace the cartridges about once a year at a cost of $130, and we wash four cars, a boat, and a motorhome frequently. Haven't really kept track of the quantity, but we are washing something weekly.

I have a valve to divert water hose water directly to the pressure washer or through the DI system to the pressure washer. Hose water for the rinse, DI water for soap/clean water, mitt buckets, and final rinse.

Is there a monthly fee or just when you need a refill. How much is it?

55 a month. There’s a set up fee when you change the tanks. The last ones I didn’t change for 3 years, and light on top was still green. They just recommended after that much time I should change them out. I don’t know how well the little systems work, but these work. I wash my black truck and black golf cart off and don’t dry them 90 percent of the time. Same with my boats. It’s worth the money to me.. my wash guy used to charge me 80 a car and 120 or so for a boat. I just do them myself now.

I rented a tank for years before I bought. The smaller bottles work the same as the large one I rented. Actually my mixed bed bottle is Laboratory quality water rated.

I Run this setup at home, Portable on the Go DI Tank, with bypass head so I am not using DI the entire time. I have zero complaints with this setup but i am going to be upgrading to a larger DI Tank. Let me know if you have any questions!
