Yeah i was gonna say, the allison motors were massive, in both displacement, and weight. Not really a great comparison to make there :p

And you are correct on perfect engine balance configs, I6, F6, 60deg V-12.

Allison is a heavy SOB

There is a lot of LS design in the DEVEL.

And built for a completely different application. Airplane engines essentially run at two speeds, idle and WFO. An Allison or Merlin probably has it all over the Devel in torque and longetivity, but different design goals.

The explanation on block design was good reading. I'm off to do more research. At work, I am in charge of the care and feeding of 5 V16 prime movers, but the a bit bigger than even that Allison. :D
