Looking for some input on destinations to check out from Park Moabi. A few of us are staying on a Peninsula spot for the week of Thanksgiving, we all have plated off road cars and looking to see where we can get to.

We did the 1st Poker Run that Pirates sponsored 2 years ago and I have that saved in my GPS

We have already gone to Oatman

What else is there? I would like to go head out to Havasu or maybe the Desert Bar or some of the other places Havasu Peeps have posted on RDP.

Appreciate any input

You could ride to Havasu Landing for breakfast or lunch. 37 miles one way....
Great idea, I will have to look into that and try and search Google earth on trails to take.

They sell trail maps in the gift store.
I got them a couple years ago and tons of day long trail rides.

I bought them as well and forgot I had them until you mentioned! I need to take a look at them and see whats out there.

Black Hills and Secret Pass near Bullhead are great rides. Dont ask me how to get there, I always follow..... If you run Secret Pass don't attempt in anything bigger then a Can Am/ RZR, it gets super tight and I doubt a big lifted Jeep or full size truck can get through.

I'm interested in these as well, we're always looking for a new ride out that way

I have done the Havasu landing ride, and ridden out to some mineshafts in the middle of nowhere. I have heard you can get all the way to Ludlow on dirt if you feel so inclined.

They claim something like 3200 miles of trail system out there.... not sure how they calculated that.

I know the Mojave Trail (which we have already done from Barstow to Laughin) has to plug into Ludlow somewhere.

Looks a little tight!

Is this accurate to where it is?

havasu would be doable, but you gonna have to jump on the 40 and cross da river. desert bar would be a long day trip from park moabi.

Have you dont this ride before? Looks like you leave Moabi, cross over the 40 and parallel the 95. Is there an actual trail or is what I mentioned the best route? Hard to tell from Google Earth but doesnt look like there are many trails cutting through the Chemehuevi mountains- maybe this are is off limits?

There are actual trails that parallel the 95. You can go under the train tracks and under the 40 from inside the park. I haven’t been the whole way so I’m sure someone has more info.

Looking on google earth it looks like you have to take a small section of the 95 to get there?

The Boriana tungsten mine in the mountains outside of Yucca is a good ride and fun area to explore. If you want a big adventure continue on to the Haulapai mountains and spend the night at the lodge, have dinner etc. and return the next day. Just watch the weather snow can be a problem, but probably not a concern at Thanksgiving.

So I have a question- I did some research and tried to map out a ride starting on SilverCreek as @DirtyWhiteDog mentioned heading to Secret Pass and then found some trails that looks like we could make a descent day ride and go to Oatman.

Anyone ever done it?

What do you guys normally do when your done going through Secret Pass? Do you head back to Bullhead area or keep going?

You can't drive through secret pass, 1 section you have to hike. About 500 yards. It's almost 2 destinations, the west end from bullhead up Laughlin ranch wash, or the east side witch i have always done from ft. Mo. Because you can get to oatman easier. Don't know how to make a trail map so here are som pins. Silver creek rd, the mine i mentioned and the end of road atthe pass/waterfall. Lots of trails, all will hook up with another going in the right direction. Silver creek wash is really fun back towards oatman.

I know the Mojave Trail (which we have already done from Barstow to Laughin) has to plug into Ludlow somewhere.

The Mojave Road crosses well north of Ludlow, about 30 miles away. It's comes right across Soda dry lake and into Rasor OHV, then to Afton Canyon (going East to West). To get to Ludow, you have to cut south from Rasor Rd, cross the tracks at Crucero, then once past the Desert Megaphone. Then it's still over 20 miles to Ludlow. To get to Ludow from Pirate's Cove, there are dirt roads, but far as I tell, it's just long boring hauls on straight dusty roads. Which IMO seems to be a lot of what those 3,200 miles of "trails" seem to be. There is good off-roading out of BHC though, and some good canyons on the far back side of Eagle Pass out of Needles.

You can literally run from Stoddard wells to Moabi without hitting pavement. We've done Stoddard to Newberry , Ludlow to Moabi and Essex to the park. Good trails and excellent scenery

Bumping this thread....

Kevin- whats the route from Pirates to the landing??

Sorry, don't come on here much anymore. Take the national trails highway out of moabi, under the train tracks and under the 40. There's left hand turn a couple of miles after the 40 that will connect you down to the gas pipeline trail. Take that gas pipeline trail W out to the 95 in Lobecks pass. This is where it gets a little tricky, we just skirt the 95 until we get to this point https://maps.app.goo.gl/T2EfUebUhXu2891U8 where a trail starts to break from 95. Follow that trail south-southwest, it crosses 95 again and continues southeast until it connects with the power line service road. You can take that power line service road virtually all the way down to the Landing.
