Hey Guys,

Some of you have been following my Baja bug that I recently purchased. This weekend was the maiden voyage. Buddy and Me loaded up my Class A and hooked her up to the tow bar. I usually go to Hodge road, but since their were races going on, decided it would be packed!

Another friend of mine wanted to check out Rasor road, and I heard about it from other RDP's on here so off we went.

Got to the Cajon pass, was pulling like a dream, Then traffic just stopped! Got on the CB, two separate accidents! This was a hour wait. My boston terrier didn't mind though! LOL

Next we kept it at 60 mph and pulled into Basin Road exit around midnight or so. We were the ONLY ones there! We picked out a "site" around 1/4 mile down the road, but with a back hill behind us. We set up the rig as cover and we could see anyone approaching down either direction.Security was our main concern. I dont know if anyone else has been out here, but there is alot of weird shit that goes on off this exit. 10 mins in, a car pulls off the exit, and starts a campfire. Ok kinda weird, but not 15 mins later, a big rig pulls up, and they load shit in the car! Random cars all night up and down this washboard road. We are talking regular street vehicles just driving off in the desert to no where! Weird shit. Anyone else notice this or ever been here? We are loaded and armed to the hilt, so we had fun just keeping our night ops and drinking some cold ones. I wonder if this road is a drug stop or what? It was NO Moon, and dark as hell at night! Kinda nice. We nicknamed the exit Basehead Road. lol

Anyways, below are some random pics. Had a blast and just stayed one night. Next day we took off to the Rasor Road exit and checked out the dunes. Didn't go all the way back since its 8 miles or so? Got mobbed by CHinese tourists who were in awe of the car. Good times for sure. Glad to be home.

Chris

Yea, sure is! I drove back miles to the train tracks in the middle of no where! Real cool because the train was just coming by, and the conductor was thumbs up and having a blast.

I saw a rock quarry or something in the back too. Never made it to the dunes, the road was real crappy for a few miles. My buddy told me it got better. I turned around but next time for sure.

cool photos! Loved Rasor Road. Used to dirtbike there back in the 90's almost every other weekend. Used to love camping at the trees and riding down at night getting a fire going next to the tracks and watch the UP freight trains come hauling ass by. Used to so much fun! I need to get back our there again soon!

We take the Rasor exit, the drive that for road for 6 miles to get to the main camping spot. So you were halfway there LOL

Lots of weird shit out there. Tweakers...raves...you name it.

Even at 6 miles in, we've had random cars drive in. One old guy in a FWD economy car drive right thru our camp, got stuck, said he was a star gazer and claimed his map sent him out there. He wanted to continue on, but we convinced him that he'd only continue to get more stuck, so he turned around.

Thats a good day ride place, i used to take the kids there when they were younger and were learning how to ride.

A big rig looks out of place where you're unloading it off the side of the road like that. :headscratch:

Yea thats what I was thinking too. Its kinda sad also when you cruise by the exit ramps and look at how much trash people throw out. Its a fucking shame. Mcdonalds wrappers everywhere and baby diapers. Not to mention stacks of used shit paper everywhere. Ghetto Losers!

Yea I dont know what people are thinking. Its like when I watch cars by Primm driving off road to avoid the Vegas traffic if its backed up. Now thats some funny shit to see BMW's and Hondas getting their front ends ripped off! Shit Show for sure!

We used to ride out there a lot, off of Rasor tho, it was closer to Vegas. There is a pretty cool cabin out there that was abandoned for a while. Had a pool and the whole works. They are fixing it up now, there are some pics here http://www.rasorroad.us/gallery-rasor-ranch.php

They are trying to get a solar plant approved out there. If they get it approved it will just be a short time before they shut the place down to keep the dust off the panels:thumbsdown

That's when you see big rigs driving on the shoulder, to prevent cars from passing like that.
Hell, when I have my toy hauler, I crown the shoulder, too.

If those fuckers want to go out of the lane to pass on the shoulder in bumper-to-bumper traffic...I make them get off the highway and into the dirt.
And when they put their blinker on to merge back into the lane from the dirt...yeah, good luck with that LOL

LOL...yea i hear ya! No, this is actually offroad I have seen! You can take Las Vegas Blvd all the way to Jean, and it dead ends to a primitive dirt road. I have seen lines of idiots on the dirt road because traffic was stopped between Vegas and Primm. I wish I would have videod it. Was amazing.

I go there at least a couple of times a year. Camped there last weekend on our Mojave Road trip.

Never heard of any "issues" there, and my group has been going since the 90s. I have definitely seen some people of questionable intent but only out at the first rock area a couple miles in from gas station. I wouldn't camp there anyway. Once you get out over the hump and towards the trees or dunes, it's always been riders and off-roaders.

We did see strange red light in the sky last weekend though. I got the telescope on it, but couldn't focus on it really. It dropped something while I was looking in the scope though, like a red drip that fell away and burned out. I assume it was a flare of some sort, but it was strange for sure. It did drop a little and then dimmed out after a minute or so.

You need to see the place we use to shoot at years ago off the 40 its close to the border of the marine base we had a small cessna fly over during the day no biggie then a few jets doing some manuevers was cool too see.Later that night there were a few jets playing and dropping flares in the distance a friend said they were probably practicing evasive manuevers it went on for almost an hour.

Keith is the guy that owns the ranch with the pool. Super cool guy and always loves visitors to the ranch. He's been going there for decades and when the chance to buy the ranch came up he took it. He's been very active and vocal on the solar panel project, including attending the most recent meeting where he is working with the group trying to build them to find a way that won't disrupt the off road activities.

For the past 4 years he's organized a clean up of Rasor Rd to remove the trash that people leave behind. This year he's looking for donations for the event and to hold a BBQ at his place for all the volunteers. Here's the link for anyone that cares to donate.

Hope to see some of you out there some time!
