Here is why- Last night I went to bed around 9ish. Just after midnight I was sound asleep but felt something crawling on my face. While still asleep my hand went to sweep my face and I immediately woke up to feeling something big on my face and I flung it across the bed. I woke up fully and my forehead and my hand felt like they were shocked by electricity and then began a burning sensation. I jumped up and ran into the bathroom and threw the lights on and I had a puncture mark on my forehead and on my hand. SON OF A BEACH!!! WTF WAS IT????

I turned on the bedroom lights, got the wife and dogs out of the room and then grabbed my Blacklight I bought this summer and began the hunt in the dark, I searched everywhere for about 10 minutes and then pulled back the blankets. THE BASTARD CRAWLED TO THE BOTTOM OF THE BED!!! It was a scorpion about 3"-4" long all curled up ready for another fight. I had my wife bring in some tupperware and captured the mother effer that crawled on my head and took him out back to the train station and sent him a flying back out into the desert. I had no shoes on and just wanted him gone. Now I wish I had smashed him into glow in the dark jelly. Between layoffs in a week and scorpions in my bed I did not sleep much last night and my forehead is still killing me.

My wife had opened up the house the day before to air it out and left the bedroom french doors open for a few hours. No more open doors to the bedrooms.

They are everywhere. Termites attract them too. Few weeks ago i was lying on the concrete in my carport pulling my prop and caught this f er out of the corner of my eye comn at me. 5-1/2 incher. Little ones are way worse. Centipedes suk too. They wl get to 8” inches.

Stacy called the pest control guy the next day and explained it will never be happening again. Lol

Other than that eleven years scorpion free? Snake free, and never seen a centipede either?

I’ve moved into two houses in my life time. Both had a scorpions in the master bathroom. I think the construction people leave them as a thank you gift for the new owners.

Shortly after we moved into our new house, I had some snake tongs delivered (lots of rattlesnakes around here). The box sat on the front patio all afternoon and, apparently, a giant desert centipede decided to be a stowaway and hitch a ride inside the house. I didn't open the box right away, but instead leaned the tall box up against the wall. Later that night, Mr.DB and I were sitting on the couch and felt a thud on the cushion between us. That centipede had crawled up the wall and across the ceiling and fell, when it ran out of talent, thankfully between the two of us. Bites from those bastards can be 'excruciating'. That jerk darted between the couch cushions and we spent the next hour ripping the couch apart to find it. Finally, with all of the sections of the couch separated, we finally found it. Wish I would have taken a pic, but it was pretty messy after his introduction to Mr.DB's size 13 flop.

I got stung by one in Glamis, I mistakenly left my riding boots outside overnight...thru my boots on in the morning and felt a really sharp pain right on my big toe...thinking it was a piece of glass or just something sharp inside, I take the boot off and dump it over, and out falls a scorpion....

Actually, at this moment, a lightbulb just went off. We were in Havasu between Christmas and New Years. Dog had one nostril puff up a little and a small cut. Took her to the vet yesterday. Probably got into it with a scorp in the backyard

Parker Pest Control comes once a month. I think we've seen one in the house and two in the garage since they started coming out.

Actually, at this moment, a lightbulb just went off. We were in Havasu between Christmas and New Years. Dog had one nostril puff up a little and a small cut. Took her to the vet yesterday. Probably got into it with a scorp in the backyard

We had our dogs get into it with a Skunk this summer. One of our dogs still has a hint of Pepe LePew.

We were out on the river and eating grapes out of a freshly opened grape baggie from the grocery store. She was about two years old and kept pointing at the bag and saying spider. None of us believed her but we eventually stopped and took a closer look at the bag she was eating grapes from and sure enough there was a black widow sitting in the bag

Same season, same sandbar, she’s playing in the sand and comes walking over to her mom with a 4 inch long ugly looking centipede crawling on her arm.

The next summer we went over to my parents house and she had a scorpion crawling on her life jacket. Just chilling,

It’s slowed down quite a bit lately but just a couple weeks ago she had a dead scorpion in her toilet. Best we can figure is it fell out of the can light that’s directly above her toilet.

We get them up here too. They may get 2.5" long at most. I've heard the smaller the worse deal, but have also heard these are like a bee sting. Usually find them in wood piles, but had them in the apartment above the garage too. Wet cardboard on the ground attracts them as well..

The first sting usually freaks the newbie out. After that, you learn it’s going to suck for 2-4 hours, and work through it.

I’ve been stung 3 times over 43 years living in the desert. All three times was on my hand out side.

I made the mistake of buying the wife a blacklight years ago. We have a monthly bug guy but she still likes to go out each night during the summer to see what she can find.
After years of cleaning scorpion guts off of my flip flops, I bought her a plumbers torch. It’s not unusual to see her walking around the backyard with a blacklight, a plumbers torch and a glass of wine. Lol

Switch to All Green pest control.. all natural and extremely affective. Our kids had a couple allergic reactions that it took us awhile to figure out where it was coming from..

Funny enough when we told the guy why we were switching switching and who we were switching too (no shit) The guy says “oh they do my parents house and a lot of my friends!” Lol

Anyhow this stuff is non toxic and we don’t have any bug problems. They also take care of weeds

Buy a weed burner.. same thing but has a long stick so you don’t have to bend over or get near em.

The first time, I went to an outpatient ER clinic…..work wanted me checked out, before I went home. ER filled a rubber glove with ice, and told me to take the rest of the day off.

If you need a rubber glove with ice, go to the ER.

You really need to get the house sprayed for bugs regularly.
