I just saw this on the RD Facebook page, sad but sounds like nobody taught her anything about riding one:
⚠️ Reported by a member of a Southern California Jet Boaters Group. This occurred on the Colorado River near Blythe.

“well Saturday evening was pretty gnarly 16-year-old girl flying on a Sea-Doo Hit a boat so hard that it flipped the boat over The girl went flying in the air landed in the water right as I was getting ready to put my boat on the trailer hopped in my boat to go over to help and the girl was being held up by her little brother in the water I pulled her in my boat she wasn't breathing no heartbeat me and another guy started doing CPR hauled ass to the keyshawn ramp to meet paramedics , me and another guy kept giving her CPR till the paramedics came paramedics came start giving her CPR she didn't make it. I saw the same girl 5 minutes before riding around with no life jacket on a Sea-Doo I told her hey where's your life jacket she just ignored me but I guess she put one on right before she got in accident and died, very sad day”

Horrible… Also horrible for the boat owner that got to experience that.

Sounds to me like the poor girls parents have a big part of the responsibility for this.

RIP young one.
I'm actually surprised there are not more fatalities from these inexperienced young riders on these units. It was always a "keep a close eye out" when we would be on the river where they're popular. I would say 60% the drivers have no clue to their right of way, only out to have a good time and things like this happen.

I have heard from a lot of people that this stretch is becoming so dangerous and will likely end up a no wake zone at some point.

RIP to the little girl. 😪

This makes me want to beat her parents ass, but they will be suffering with the loss of their daughter. RIP little one.

I saw this many times when I worked at Pyramid Lake. A whole family shows up with one SeaDoo, and only one person knows how to ride it, but they all ride it. Then I was the asshole when I made them pack up and go home.

I read that. So sad for all involved. A stupid accident. The concept of skis not turning without being under power needs to be taught to young and novice riders. RIP young lady. Thank you to the guys that tried to save her. 🙏

I call them water bugs. They just dart all over. I pray each time we go out no one hits one. Good job for trying to save her life. News like this just sucks for everyone.

Incredibly heartbreaking. As a parent to a twelve year old this would break me to lose my child.

Thank You to those who tried to help. She didn’t die alone. Fuck this breaks my heart.

Freken horrible. Just a small clarification here guys. Unless I'm mistaken, the OP isn't the one that performed the CPR on the poor girl. It was a member of the Southern California Jet Boaters Group. God bless them for trying their best to save the poor young girl.

I need to stop saying that the Lower River is what the River used to be. Sounds like what ruined the rest of it has found Blythe now. 😞

Even though people joke about jet boats, I am so glad that was what I learned to drive when I was so young. I really feel if you can drive, dock and trailer a jet boat you can drive any boat.

No gas, no turning.
Complete opposite of what is normal.

It's not easy to step up and involve oneself in a tragedy in the making. We hear of these incidents, and the people that commit themselves to do whatever possible to help someone are becoming more and more rare.

As you said, blessings to those that tried their best to save the poor girl. My prayers go out to her family.

Life cut short, wish that all new or uneducated boaters/sea doo'ers got some decent boating education before hitting the water. I Hate seeing something like this happen.

THIS!!! I have a house up river right around the corner from where this happened. We have owed the house 16 years, boating that stretch for 30+ years, its not the same and keeps getting worse each year. Arizona Oasis is a big park and use to be empty in the summer. Last few years its PACKED with Trailers and they are selling a shit ton of Park Models in the RV/camp sites. From the turn at River Lagoon to the gas line south of the 10fwy is a total SHIT SHOW!!!! Its the worst stretch of water on the Colorado right now is my guess.100+ seadoos ripping back and forth in a 300yard long by 60 yard wide stretch of the river with boats trying to navigate through also. A lot of young kids going back and forth all day with their parents on the beach watching them. Some idiots even tube there!!! I HATE going through there.

Sadly people treat these machines like toys, allowing anyone to ride them, including children who have not gotten the training and guidance to operate one safely.

I always tell people I am teaching to drive vehicles, boats, whatever, that defensive driving can save not only your life, but a stranger's as well.

Drive like no one else can see you, and you have a good chance at having a good time, and staying safe.

Even so called "lesser" boats and skis can kill someone without a seconds notice, they should be treated like firearms, with training and repeated lessons drilled into you before operation solo.

RIP young lady.

This sucks . . . RIP & sorry to everyone involved.
I'll be at the Lower River Run on the 11th, then that's it for me till October . . . not worth the risk.
