It will be done early next week.

Truly amazing level of detail by Rick's crew. Pic of the guy working up inside the bow is wild, I had no idea he was even up there when I climbed up in to take pics. Nobody will ever see where he is when its done but rick wants it done as if somebody would. Underside of the deck matches factory glass work perfectly.

Once the inside glass work is done a bulkhead goes in with an access hole for the bow light and foot shower in case they ever need repairs.

White on there now is primer, gel goes on in about hour.

Decided to leave the ribbons on the sponsons for now. Covering them complicated the process because they would have had to re-gel the entire top of the boat because there were no transitions or lines to mask off the gel work up by the canopies.

It would have been a few more weeks and a few more grand to get it done. With the interior work to be done yet and an annual service I would have been bumping up against desert storm pretty quick.

Plus the wife wanted the ribbons to stay, so we will see how it feels after the season and can always take it back to remove the ribbons and add a center stripe.

Rick also re-did the keels of the boat, fixed a spider crack in the gel back by the transom, and fixed the damage from the shark that bit me in Powell last summer, aka rock.

Plus outdrive1 has been having a hissy fit cause his boat isn't getting done, and Rick was tired of his whining, so we agreed to get my boat out of there next week :)

Towing it back to havi Friday night.

Lol funny post Walt, Outdrive will be happy that things back in Havi:).. Plus like you said, you can always tow it back after the summer and have a stripe put down the center... I actually love that idea, but I think the ribbins(8s) look nice too, I've always liked some color on the deck.:thumbsup

Walt, is the PR interior being done in Havi?.. I forgot what u said?:thumbsup

No worries, we have color coordinated DCB racing embroidered towels to deal with that. :)

ONE-A-DAY: Looks bitchen. Be sure to post up some stats after you get it out on the water. I'm curious what king of performance gains your are going to see without the front seating.

"Decided to leave the ribbons on the sponsons"

Good move, the ridges are a good place for the transition for the gel-coat and I like the ribbons.

Closed deck all the way!!!

To do it right you won't want the "step" from new gel to old.. That's why Rick wanted to reshoot the whole top I'm guessing.

Because I didn't want to take my shoes off and crawl up in there lol seriously though the inside is nicer than the outside. I'm sure walt will do the deed when he gets a chance.

Here u go....I'm in the new storage area where the open bow was, looking forward to the bulkhead that was added in the same place that DCB puts it. Hole was left to access bow light and foot shower. Entire storage area will be carpeted by the interior shop next.

I think i would add a red/grey outline dcb sticker at the front of the deck to break up the white a tad

Isnt that what you racers have on the boat? I just think it needs a tad more on the deck since he left the ribbons.

Digging this one back up from the dead!

I have a F32 open bow that I'm considering having this done!

One-A-Day, would you do this conversion again? Any cons from doing it that were unforeseen until you brought the boat back home? I tried to send a PM over but your mail box was full!

No regrets, came out beautiful, I wouldnt use Islander again because his business has gone through the significant changes, but any of the good glass shops can do it. DCB would be the best to do it since they have the deck mold and can make the hole plug easily off of that.

Did you have DCB quote you to do this job when you were looking? If so were they open to doing the job? Having them do it would be my personal preference but I wasn't sure if they would even be willing to pick up the task. Maybe if they are I will have them redo the interior of my boat too while its there, some Alcantara would be amazing.

I'm glad to hear that you loved it, I just really don't like having people sitting up there and even less when I'm at any form of speed. The boat is a 700sci/nxt boat so I like to cruise at 70+ and it makes me really uncomfortable having people in the bow. We don't even use the open bow at this point and I greatly prefer the looks of a closed bow.

We bought a toon so at that point I told my wife the bowrider is no more, the boat is a hot road and I don't want that many people in it anyway. islander was $5000, dcb closer to $15,000 and it was pretty evident they didn't want to tie up the shop floor for $15,000 versus $500,000 on a new build. Arko re did the interior completely for $8000, all new poker run style including side panels, carpet and the new under bow changes.
