Having a few problems this morning trying to get on the water for Desert Storm. One of the motors is not circulating water while the other is. Anyone know what the problem is? Recently had it serviced earlier this month.

Anyways, trying to at least get on the water for the shootout tomorrow if anyone knows what the problem may be I’d appreciate it.

Not sure about those ball valves at top of photo. Would those restrict flow to the motor? Flip them if so

If that isn't an issue -

On the motor that's not moving water:
  1. Check that the water pickup isn't blocked
  2. Is lid to sea strainer tight? - Check
  3. Check that all hoses from pickup to sea strainer, and from sea strainer to raw water pump, are tight. A loose hose clamp can cause the pump to suck air instead of priming and sucking water

If none of that helps....your gonna need to have the impeller checked. May have come apart. Was the boat ran after service? I've had inlet / outlet hoses get reversed before......something to check if it was never successfully ran after service! Some boats it's a no brainer where the hoses are connected,, but some boats they can be "flip flopped" by accident if the mechanic pulled them both to do the impeller and didn't pay attention which was which was which.....

Crack the lines or open the top of the strainer. Sometimes my Skater would get air and not circulate. Or, run the other motor in gear in the water a little above wake speed and see if the water pressure will push the air through. I have done that too.

Yeah, check those ball valve handles. They both appear to be in "off" position.

Those ball valves appear to be a location for flushing, they should be closed. As was said, if it wasnt run on a hose after service, it may be locked with air. Verify inlet and outlet hoses at the pump are in the correct orientation, if yes, remove inlet hose to pump with boat in the water and let it burp. Put the hose back on and should pick up water, assuming service was done correctly and no impeller damage.

Never had that issue but check the hoses and make sure they are in the correct position as far as in and out. Mine are easy to swap.

As stated above get it in water then crack the strainer lid to relieve the air.

Might be a good idea to run it on one motor and get some water flow going as well.

The ball valves are for flushing by the motor, they should be closed.

Since it was recently serviced and now not picking up water, I’d check the orientation of the hoses on the pump. Gonna be a pain in the ass on that stbd motor, but look at the port motor and see which hose goes where on the pump and compare.

First time out since it was serviced. I bought the boat last year, but never played with the water lines. I will try to flip the water lines and check the strainer lid later tonight at the Windsor when the crowd is already off the water and provide an update.

They should of started it and checked it for leaks and water circulation after service, was it a full service, new impellers? Only time I ever had an issue with a boat with a strainer it was a cat as they sit a little higher in trailer on a step ramp, thought I was in deep enough but wasn't, smoked the impeller quick.

Any luck!
It’s the impellers. Thought they were supposed to be changed every 2 years turns out it’s every year. Do you know of a place in havasu that can change them before scfw? All the major shops are booked till late May.

Impeller’s are the cheapest insurance you can ever have. Never even when it still looks brand new skip changing at the beginning of a season. As lame as it sounds you start losing blades on that impeller and you’ll be cleaning it out for weeks.

As said DYI so you know it’s real easy other than access on your starboard side but knowing how makes all the difference.
