It's actually not a bad thing to know how to do. And plus you can learn the right was to tie off a ski line too... Plus it's just a good excuse to go to the river!!! :champagne:

Those knots are breakpoints. ill take pics of mine tonight and post them up. I was told a long time ago to never to your ski lines like that because it will break at the knot.

When I took my cousin to the ski camp last year they showed us how to do the knots in the ski lines, and they were a bit different than that, and the way they showed us how to do it was in such a way that even if the line somehow backed out of the center of the rope, it would still hold tight and not give...

Is there a way of doing it where the front handle can be adjusted but still locked into place? or once its set does is it permanent?

Sadly i wasn't drinking... when it happened. I decided to go for a early morning surf after a night of drinking with our good friend Mr. Doug Nixon. After about 30 red bull and vodkas and what seemed like an endless supply of cigerettes we ended up drinking at his house into the late hours. That morning after his lovely wife drove me home i decided to hop in the water. Surf wasn't too big only 6 to 7 foot, but second wave i ate shit on the drop somewhere as I tumbled around the board smacked me in the head splitting open my skull. Lets just say going to the emergency room hung over with 2 hours of sleep is not the best way to spend your sunday

Doesn't sounds very fun but I think I may have been in more pain than you...went out wed night for a couple drinks and dinner with a buddy did the same Thurs night and then had a rought day fri and started drinking at the office (Irish Car Bombs) headed home had about 8 buddies meet me there and then out to main st. After Hennesseys, O'Malleys, Clancey's and The Irisher I stumbled home. never sobered up and started back at Hennesseys for College Game Day and many many drinks...in bed by 7pm and did it all over again on Sunday and ended with a jacuzzi and a bbq in bed at 1030...Tomorrow will be day three of this hangover. The past 3 mornings I thought Tom Brown had come over and used my toilet.

All I've seen is permanent too... I would think that if it was adjustable, there would be a greater chance for malfunction while racing. Wouldn't want that handle to slide too far back when you wanna pull that slack out in a turn!!! LOL

Sounds alot like my week/ weekend. Just ended at the ER rather than the hot tub and BBQ. Trust me, I cant imagine what the secretary things of me walking to the bath room every 30 minutes the past 3 days. I've had trips to mexico that werent this bad. Ha

Where you go out at? I have a feeling you got a thing for the irish bars?

You might want to look at Todd's line closer. He showed me how to do it and it is nothing like that. ill take a pic of mine tonight and post it up.

Also permanent is the only way to go. Like Lynch said you can do 2 handles if you want. That way you have a handle for smooth and then one for rough. The Aussies usually run 2. Stouty and I think Mawer might as well.

I still felt so bad yesterday that I could barely stomach a one litre bottle of water and about to finish my second for today.

I doubt anyone will come over from George's again either will the fishhook blaring stereo and nut grab and the very generous "shut the fuck ups" But it was one for the ages and great memories :thumbsup

I always looped the rope through the front handle, around it and back through it again. Once it cinches up, it should not slip around, but if you work at it you can loosen it enough to move the front handle. Never did break a rope there, did have the front handle itself break on the starting line at Puddingstone, but it had been "resting" in the garage for about 8 or 9 years.

If the front handle breaks, i'm going to have to wash out my wetsuit...:bash:

50/50 on a crash, kinda depends on when it breaks. It's not under a huge load pulling it apart though. roughly 2" of deflection from my hip to the "Y" (a 4-5' span). I can squeeze the rope in front of the handles together underway.
