OK, anyone upriver from me see where this launched from, or know what it is, besides the obvious huge black wiener? Sounded like it had a motor, was heading towards the airport where it gained altitude. Not real fast but don't believe it was wind assisted, air was pretty calm this morning . I have an uncropped copy of this image that shows my roof, and Wheeler confirmed sighting at the airport after I called him and told him to watch for it. He got some photos, perhaps not as close as mine.

I’m up River from you. Got video and pics of it out on the highway just north of the airport. I have no idea where it launched from. I called La Paz County Sherriff and the airport. Nobody else had to report it or knows anything about it.
To me, it seems like a long piece of plastic filled with helium in tight on each end, but it did refract with the sunlight. I have a video but I don’t think it’ll upload.

I thought I could hear some sort of motor, and Wheeler reported the same from his viewpoint at the airport. Meanwhile someone posted on my FB that they saw the same thing two years ago at Safeway. I was just hoping someone upriver saw where it started from.

Maybe someone was making balloon animals and that one got away before getting turned into one? And they used helium?

Beware of home made plastic dry cleaning bag UFOs. Totally unsafe. They often catch fire. So a friend once told me, many years ago.

It's a stealth blimp. There is one that hoovers over my house every evening. It is a listening device that two guys in the black Crown Vic parked at the end of the street control and monitor . They have been monitoring me ever since that incident back in 2001.

Ahhh the vintage 70's version ringed with birthday candles for lift. They're particularly prone to landing on your neighbors roof, often just beyond where your hose jet will reach. This tends to be unsettling for the neighbor who's roof you landed on when you alert him.🤯 🤬
But yes, if there's much of a breeze, it can blow the candle flame against the edge of the extremely flammable bag

Those models and wooden shake roofs of the era were not a good combination. A completed flight meant the birthday candles had burned all the way down to the styrofoam platform, which then ignited, which ignited the dry cleaning bag above sending sheets of flames to the ground and/or roofs. Not Good. So that friend once told me.

I was thinking a military target, but if they sell them like toys, good luck if your power lines are above ground.

Could be terrorist? 😉
