Had to deal with an issue with Paypal today they froze my acct because someone from RDP called them and reported that I was selling illegal HBO & Showtime. Of course this is not the case. I sell a box that can get HBO shows but through third party developers I have no control of. I had to spend half the day writing an appeals letter to Paypal explaining in detail what I sell. They disabled my account and told me they were holding all monies for 180 days. That's why I am in panic mode.

Dave

Sounds like your old website guy is messing with you.

C'mon now...
RD isn't going to personally introduce some scammer to his website.

Do the research, it's a legit product...and there are a number of competing products out there, all sold legally.

String of bad luck for the guy no doubt.. I wish I would've waited to post the thread on the boxes. I was just pretty stoked on mine and how it worked, so I posted it.

Sounds like your old website guy is messing with you.

The craigslist website killer cost me about $2600 - I just found out today code is missing from my site and turned it to scrambled eggs and can't be repaired. already met with another web guy who is building me a new website. Oh well, try again tomorrow!

That's pretty low for someone to do.. Im sure there is another service you can use.. What a PITA

I don't know what to make of what happen or if there is even a lesson to be learned from it, all I know is I have been busting my butt for 16 months working sometime 16 hour days, doing 3 to 4 sometimes 5 demos in one day that take 60 to 90 minutes because I am OCD and feel its necessary to be detailed. I have over 3000 customers in San Diego and another 4000 stretched throughout the country. I always answer my phone for tech support, and RD will tell you I'm just a nice guy, not out to hurt anyone. I actually enjoy what I do now because I have met more people, gone into more homes, and created more friendships in the last 16 months than my entire life.

Some people enjoy seeing other suffer! Aren't those people called Sociopaths...

Dave thanks for the help and walking through ordering yesterday. Not going to point out the service used as someone might try and flank you there.

My story is I have been been looking for a mini pc (similar to this device) for some time. I hate paying for cable for 3 tv's at the river house. Also have slingbox and like to watch my DVR programs remote, at riv or traveling. I had been ready to pull the trigger on an intel or android box until this came along. This device can be used for a multitude of things my main was to have it be a sling player. That said if it does all this other stuff great, I would also use it to be the main set top box in the river house and it could replace fios or scale fios service way back in the main house.

If I get it setup in the next couple of days I will provide reviews here.

Through Sports Access you are able to watch all the NFL games live including blackout games. this content is streaming from Canada and the UK. As far as legal issues, because everything on the box are through third parties located outside of US territories we cannot be held responsible for content not provided by us. Our box only provides a path to enter into XBMC Media Center for the purpose of searching and streaming free media content.

Another words we can not be told we can't sell a streaming media box. If half the Las Vegas Sheriffs dept are using them and San Diego, Riverside and LA County Sheriffs and police officers as well, I don't think anyone has to worry about a black ops squad breaking down your door anytime soon and arresting you for watching Breaking Bad!

I hope this help!

Dave

Thanks

I dunno... If it's got a legit 20 d/l then I think it would be fine.. I'm surprised the wireless takes that big of a drop? Unless you have a ton of other stuff on the network?

RD

I found the problem. 2 iPhones, 3 laptops, and 2 iPads were not the problem.
I unplugged the router and waited 2 minutes before plugging it back in and I got 15Mbps. But it only lasted about 15 minutes, then it went down to .2Mbps. (thats point 2).
New router now and I'm getting a solid 15Mbps wireless on the laptops, even with live cams streaming on the browser.
Only getting 8-10 Mbps on the iPhones and iPads but they are older models 4S phone and 2nd gen pad.

I still wish I had faster speed, but I'm more than 5 miles from town and the wire from the Time Warner box to my house is a few hundred feet long.
Time Warner says don't expect much more.

If I'm understanding completely, regardless of your download speed you are dependent on the server speed, and during peak periods you will get buffering.
Regardless, it looks like the system is far from plug and play. I was planning on purchasing one of the boxes, but will now wait for further reviews from those who have.

I picked my box up from Dave yesterday. He walked me through the functions and setup. I took the unit home and hooked it up. It took about 5 minutes. WOW.
At first I was a little skeptical but I am a believer now. I will be just using this at a vacation house and I think it will work perfectly there. I could bring in almost everything imaginable. I am mainly concerned with news, networks, and pac 12. All worked well with the exception of sometimes Fox news mouths were out of sync. If I get the networks that will cover most of the games. Pac 12 will get me the rest of what I am looking for.

Personally this unit would never replace my main TV source. I don't have the patience because to stream in some things it takes afew minutes. BUT for an addition it is well worth it. As a second house deal it will work for me. You can get a zillion movies. Tons of channels. Channels I have never heard of. Channels I have heard of. NHL, NBA, PAC12 done deal for me. Nice unit, good seller, does everything he says.

Not too hard to use but takes a little patience. I am pretty good with it after about 1/2 hour of messing with it.

Do you know your download speed at the spot your currently using the box? I am at 12.75 and thinking the speed won't work.
Thanks.

Yes that is correct to a certain extent, choosing the right server is crucial to watching a movie without it buffering. There are a few factors that still play an important role in streaming period. If you have an old Motorola 5100 series Modem take it out and shoot it, its 10 years old. If your router is equally old its probably a G router running at a whopping 54 mbps Link speed (very slow processing). This set up is like having a an old VW with a stock 900cc motor. We need to turn that VW engine into a Ferrari engine. To do this you must get new equipment, why? Because the new standard for Modem processors is Docsis 3.0 which processes data 5 times faster than the old Docsis 2.0.

The first part of the equation is making sure you have upgraded your network equipment. Modem of choice Motorola SB 6181 - Router of choice Linksys EA 3500 or 4500 they are simultaneous duel band routers N750 -N900 and hopefully you live in an area that offers fiber-optic speeds 15 mbps or higher, 20+ works really good.

Now that you have done your upgrade, you can eliminate this from the buffering equation. Whats left is picking the right server to play your movies and TV shows. As a rule of thumb I never click on HD servers on the weekend too many people around the world between 12 noon and 8pm on Saturday and Sunday are also trying to watch content in HD. Just stick to the SD servers they play in 720p and stream great and look good.

There is a learning curve to this super advanced technology, the question is do you have the patients to learn?

I hope this helps you!

BigdattyD, I'm trying to convince the wife that the Feds aren't going to break my door down one day for piracy. Can you explain, in my dumb terms, how this is in NO way illegal for us to use? Thanks in advance! [emoji106]

American Laws are pretty specific that if you are downloading and RECORDING, it is illegal. If you are streaming and not recording, then it is legal.

We already went through this with another member that works for Direct TV. He thought it was illegal, went and checked with their guys, and came back and said it is in fact legal.

No need because nobody is going to go after you.

Besides not having fast enough internet, the above is also a big negative for me. Id rather pay my Direct TV bill and use pay per view to have constant HD quality. 70inch TV, so low quality looks like total shit on my TV. Its why I rarely watch HULU and Netflix. I'll pay for quality.

I tried watching the New Years shows the other night on USTV now, and the buffering was a shit show. This thing is far from perfect, but it does have a place in my entertainment line up.

Any weekends or big holidays when people are home, expect shit buffering from the TV Stations part of it. Just what I have discovered at least! I can understand the folks that want to keep and assure the HD quality.
