Ok I finally got these controls installed a week ago. They work amazing, I’m very happy with them.

Anyone else have an issue with the buttons? My trim buttons on the throttle started acting up after a couple days of use. First trim up became inconsist, then trim down. They only work intermittently now. I just did some troubleshooting with my installer and we determined it is indeed button. The wiring is all fine.

I’m going to hit up @Marine Industries on Monday to see if he can get me some new buttons. I was just asking because I wondering if there was a bad batch of buttons.

Yea I’m ordering a EMI wheel and hub on Monday. The Grant wheel looks like crap now as I suspected it would.

I want to see if they will do a red hub and polished center cap for me. It will match the controls better.

Work "amazing"....but the buttons have issues....noted. 😂

For yore note taking-
Im actually on the water in a boat using the buttons 😂.

There are 0 issues with the parts Dana made in house. This isn’t a call out thread. I’m just asking if anyone else had a similar problem with their buttons as we all bought them at the same time.

I bought mine from a well known boat mail order supply. Started to install it and had cable issues. Called Dana and talked to whoever answered the phone and he was truly pissed at the dealer that they didn`t let me know that I needed new cables. Took the time to ensure that I got the proper cables and fittings and shipped them to me. Old time customer service that is fading away. I'm guilty as well, if I know exactly what I need, I'll order it online, not so much to save a buck, but for the convenience. I won't, however, pick someones brain and take that knowledge and purchase somewhere else.

Bob @ MIW has always been good to me. I have bought many things from Bob they have all been great. All the parts of the shifter Bob made were flawless. I’m just asking about the momentary switches here.

I will say for me personally, the extra money spent on the Dana controls saved me money in the long run. I didn’t have to buy nor pay labor to install new cables. The install was so straightforward I should have done it myself. The whole setup is completely slop free and really precise.

That starts the domino effect.
Once the wheel is changes, @LargeOrangeFont will then need to change out the gauges, since the white rims will then look off :)

Hopefully not. I’m good with the gauges, they still look great. I’m going to keep the interior fairly simple when I get it redone.

This is something I'm going to have to decide what to do in the Spectra once I start re-doing it. I'm not sure if I want the offshore style controls like this, or go with the hand shifter and foot throttle like I have in the Lavey. I just feel the foot throttle is so much safer and more standard for those than don't have much boat driving experience.

Well you might as well add the trim tab gauges. They are really helpful to me but I am a newbie. The pro that you are it might not be a necessity 👍

I am thinking of going full glass on my setup -
Only issue, to fill all the holes and reglass and gel dash the quote I got was 3k. Then another 3 for the vessel view setup.

Same thing happened to mine after two outings. The up completely quit and the down was sporadic. I spoke with Bob and he shipped a replacement switch to my installer @namba860 Shane was able to replace without removing the whole unit.

Would some kind of bezel or cover be more cost effective for that? or would it not fit the interior of boat?

I’ve had two sets of those controls. I’ve used them for over 15 years.

Never had a problem still work great today.

Those sticks look great on your boat.

Where did you get this steering wheel?

Eddie Motorsports (Eddie Marine). I actually don't have it yet. I'm going to call and order it this afternoon.

At first I didn't realize it is NOT the Formuling/Grant 9 bolt pattern. It is the Lecarra, Billet Specialties, etc. bolt pattern. and uses 10/32 screws, not the 1/4 screws in the Formuling/Grant 9 hole pattern.

Eddie sells adapters to mate their wheel to your existing hub, or they sell new hubs. I am just going to get a new hub.

OK everyone, I just got off the phone with Bob and Marine Industries West. He was very helpful and is sending me some new switches. He said that they have had several of these with bad switches, all only in the trim handle. The trailer buttons have been fine. He has used the same switch for years from the same supplier, but has now gone to another more expensive switch for this application that he has used in years past for different applications.

Anyway great customer service from Bob. I will get these new switches soldered in when they arrive.

Also Bob offered to fix the problem if I dropped the boat off at the shop. Since the boat is in Havasu that does not make much sense for me, but I appreciated the offer.

Good to hear that you are on a path to the solution. These kinds of issue happens to the best of them. It is all about how they resolve It. Sounds like they are standing by the products. 👍

Add us to the failed switches list, unfortunately my son is out on the lake…..

do you have a contact # for Bob so we can get replacement switches ordered?
