So went out today in the toon. Pretty good day not too crazy and a little hot but no big deal. Get back to the marina and putting the toon on the trailer. People in next lane backing a pwc down and all over the place. Finally they get it in the water and lady fires it up and backs it straight into the side of my toon. Were like wtf! She says oh sorry it didn't leave a mark. I get up to the wipe the toon and there is a dent in the log. Fuck me you can't fix that really. Showed it to the guy that was with her but really can't do much about it. Rant over.

Youtube has several videos and articles regarding removing dents from pontoon boat logs. I'd think if that's the case and considering the shear number of them in Havasu, somebody in that town would have the expertise.
Hope you at least got their info so if that's the case you can get reimbursed.

Hope you can get it fixed.

Reminds me of when I parked my beautiful 68 Camaro long ways out and returned to an asshole is some big ass 70’s sedan right next to me that left a sizable door ding, nothing but empty spaces around. At the time I had a geologists rock hammer in the trunk that put a perfect square hole in the sheet metal about 3/4” square. The date I was on didn’t want a second date😁

I wonder if these folks renting water craft are require to prove proficiency of operation ? I would think their insurers would require something 🤷‍♂️

No. They bank on them damaging the skis. My Friend wanted to get in the business. So we stopped and talked to a few of the rental companies. $200 a sq inch they charge for damage. He has a toy rental business. Rvs toyhauler and quads. He could not get insurance on skis. So most those rental agencies have no insurer and it is not required.

My boat was hit by a rental years ago. They basically gave me the renters info and said to small claims them. They had no insurance on the boat just a umbrella policy for liability.

From what I've heard in Bullhead,
"Watch this 30 minute video on YouTube, and sign here that you've watched it", that's it

In all the boater safety courses, there isn't a 'How to avoid rental jet ski rookies' chapter.
Just head on a swivel and expect the unexpected.

Call the cops when it happens.. Its seems stupid you need to do that but fuck them. At least you have a report and their info for insurance.

You can't have anything nice anymore. I gave up and have a beater, but I hate not having pride of ownership.

I had a rental jet ski company trailer gouge the drivers side trailer fender while it was sitting in the lot. Less than a week after I painted the trailer. There wasn't anything I could do but fix it myself. At least I still had the paint that matched.

I rented a 24' toon for the day a few weeks ago while in Havasu, from one of the boat rental apps.

Guy met me at site 6, i got on the boat, and had me back it off the trailer and off I went. When I came back, he had me pull it back on the trailer . No questions asked during the rental process or pickup other than "do you know how to drive a boat?" question on the app.

Im sure he see's some epic shit at the ramp with his rentals.....

For the record - I loaded that sucker perfectly

Back in 03. the wife and I were on vacation on Kaui and went on an atv tour. Typical tour requirements such as watch a short video and then orientation with the atv's. They announced that they had a brand new Honda atv and prefered someone with experience ride it. Nobody else offered so I agreed. Been riding dirt bikes since '79 so no worries. They made it very clear that they would charge my card if I did any damage at all to it. The quads were all actually pretty nice. We take off and I let the wife go in front of me. behind the front guide. We get to our first road crossing and stop. As I come to a stop I hear the guy behind me grab a handful of whiskey throttle. I knew right away he was going to hit me so I grabbed both front and back brake so as not to hit the wife. He smashes into me so hard that he pushed me into her! He panicks and keeps grabbing the throttle thinking it was the brake. The guide sees all of this and jumps off his quad and kills the dudes quad. First thing he does is tell me he saw everything and not to worry. He then orders the dude off the quad to separate the marriage. His quad actually went under mine! Radios in to their facility and another guide comes out and escorts him back as they said he was unsafe to be riding with everyone else. Luckily my quad was ok to ride and just had damaged the plastics and the rear tail light. The guide was really pissed at the dude!

I'm really glad it wasn't our vintage Schiada whaler . That could have been way ugly.
