Older monkey boy was feeling pretty good. Asked him what he wanted to do this weekend. He wanted to go on a hike. Hike he picked is a loop around Watson lake out here. "Only" 8 or 9 miles. Well, about 3.5 of that is bouldering, lots of vertical type stuff. My quads are on fire!
Us three males are dead. Wife bowed out, and went back the flats at the halfway point. Lots of people do parts of the trail, not many do it all. Pretty good views, kind of like walking through Big Thunder Mountain 🤣

Odd pic that hit me. Been a while since we've been able to get out for more than a little trek. The one on the left is the "baby", 6'4"...or more when standing up straight. On the right is the one that's been having some issues the past couple years. He now stands 6'2", and wants to start doing this a lot more now that things are going a bit better. 15 and 17 years old. Time has flown by.

The last pic was when "little monkey" was laughing at me taking pics. "You look like one of those people that shop at Sprouts!"
My response, "I drive a Goddamn Prius, maybe I'm headed that way!"

Looks like a great time Kevin. So happy that you were able to find peace with the family. I hope that it continues.

I hear on being out of shape. I did a hike a few months back that kicked my ass. I also did 10 miles when in Hawaii last week. It only had about 250ft of rise. It was not that bad. Just let me know when you want to head over to the islands. We can host the whole Monkey Klan and then some. 👍

I know the feeling. Refereed 6 soccer games at a tournament last weekend. 16 year olds they assigned me to. Logged 11 miles. Could barely walk Monday morning. Thank god it was a holiday.

Someday I'll have to take you up on that, want my kids to see Pearl Harbor, and get a chance to see that place in general. The politics suck, but still a beautiful place...like most of Cali is as well.

The vertical for our little jaunt was the ass kicker. There is a trail surrounding most of it that is on an old railroad path. Flat and nice, but doesn't have the views. This one has signs saying "more physical" and "technical" than the others. Switchbacks wind through those granite outcroppings, and the "trail" is marked with white sprayed dots. I don't know what the vertical is, but we were at the backside of a 100ft dam after being well over 100ft above the waterline not a half mile back.

Thes is the small lake on the east side of 89 as you drive south into Prescott. Driven by it a million times, but this was my first trip around it. Probably do it more now.

That looks awesome! My wife went on a bike ride on Iron King and Peavine trail a few months back, which I think is behind that lake.

The east side of the "Watson Loop" is shared with the Peavine trail. I think at the north end it meets the Iron King trail, and turns east. You used to be able to take Iron King from Glassford in Prescott Valley, but I haven't tried since they built a butt load of houses out there.

Thinking of finding some "cruiser" BMX type bikes to mess with. Dunno really, but mountain bikes get stupid in a hurry.

Is this the lake? Drove by last trip adn wanted to venture out. All I could get out of the wife was 10 minutes to go sit on a bench as she waited in the car thinking the whole hurry up and get back to the car. LOL

Yep! The pics were taken in those rocks you're looking at. My house is roughly 12 miles slightly left of center. Water has come up quite a bit now from the snow melt.
