3D printing is so bad ass, i had no idea the options that were out there, just seemed like a cool toy and they aren't much money, but once you start seeing the potential its kind of mind blowing. and the fact that a thin piece of plastic can become a solid strong piece is just so cool.
And i haven't even scratched the surface, now if welding was as easy as this.

If you get real interested in it, look up the info on 3d printed metal I think SpaceX uses it in some of their rocket engines, and some high en supercar wheels were "printed" too.

As much as I believe this technology has killed the craftsman, it’s amazing.
When I was still pushing wrench, not all that long ago, we were putting together a grand Pierce That was the queen of Englands For the Peterson. Knight Sleeve valve engine. The heads are junk along with a bunch of other other pieces. The amount of money spent on tooling and foundry was ridiculous. if we had 3-D printing just making the cores Would’ve saved 10s Of thousands. Let alone metal printing the whole thing. And that it took years.
By the way, they got it running, not before Mr. Peterson died, but Mrs. Peterson did get to ride in it. I got to add an electric starter to it. That was my main contribution.

its pretty crazy what they are doing with 3D printing now. i have one customer who is 3d printing turbine blades with Inconel and then finish machining them.

One of my customers was working for a big 3d metal printing gig. They were printing inconel. The Confederate air force needed an exhaust part for one of the warbirds. They scanned it and printed it to show what can be done. He scanned the prop off my boat and supposedly had one printed but I never saw it. Probably got quashed management. He printed me some Bones Fab connecting rod bottle openers. I went to debur them on the belt sander and they made all sorts of pretty white sparks .

3D printing with metal, especially WAAM (Wire Arc Additive Manufacturing) is on the rise in the aero/space sector. It's huge here just in Long Beach. You have Relativity on the west side of the airport here in the old C17 factory literally printing rocket sections out of aluminum on massive turntables and elevators. Then you have us, a small space startup still in the testing phase. We are going to use WAAM process to print the parts of our spacecraft we are developing that make sense to print. Only certain critical, weird shaped parts will get printed. We are using a big KUKA foundry robot along with a large Fronius MIG welder - both integrated with each other, using various software and a little AI sprinkled in to achieve our end result. It's pretty badass to watch it go.

Did a tour of your favorite Red tool manufacturer a couple months ago. They can make a fully functional tool prototype in a few days. Tool is ready to test on job sites. Absolutely insane.

The only thing that surprised me was how long it takes to make stuff, guess i didn't really think about it, and apparently the Bambu printer i have is fast compared to what it use to take, but over an hour to make a latch for Packout case, and i get the more colors the longer it takes also. but its still way cool

Not doing anything special. if its a m18 or m12 tool then it gets a logo as you can see in the back

Here's a pic of about half of the prototypes, fixtures and concept models I printed for my Schiada build. It's absolutely incredible how useful the technology is for just trying out different ideas and building stuff that would take much more effort using more conventional methods. Granted the parts aren't as durable as a billet or welded piece but when you want to try a bunch of alternatives is short order and at a low cost this technology kicks ass.
