Anyone else watching the race? I’ve always been a huge fan and try to catch all I can. This year seems to be an even harder race than normal. Lots of breakdowns and crashes. On the bikes, Brabec is really starting to come on strong in the last few stages ! I’m rooting for the home town boy, so to speak.

Always wondered how they navigated. Pretty cool short vid on how they use the road book. Never knew. Try reading that and doing 80 through the desert

Been following Dakar since the West Africa days. Love it. Just an amazing amount of endurance and tenacity to entertain a two week race from everyone involved. Mental and physical athletes.

Great to see the increase in American participation over the years. Would also like to see Brabec get this for Honda again.

Brabec & Price! 🇺🇸🇺🇲🏁🏁

I've spent countless hours for the last 2 weeks following Dakar!

I'll be there one day as a spectator and hopefully a volunteer! I can't get enough of it. 😎

I agree. It’s one hell of a test. Doing 600-800 km per day is a serious run. This year is going to be over 5000km.

Those dunes are insane! One of the quotes was that the average sand dune is 1400ft high, and they are endless.

I can’t stop watching any and every tid bit of Dakar. Rally style racing is the most fun you can have as a spectator and racer. This year is wild.

I watched the highlights last night. They did a 900km stage !!!!!!! Over 11 hrs on the bikes, and will go again today. Unbelievably, first and second in the bikes are only separated by 1 second with over 2500km’s raced! THAT’S RACING. !!!!!

Well its your next logical step.
👍

We talked about that. Sometimes I’m looking at the support team rigs in the daily update Dakar vids and realize just how immense the support team aspect is to keep these cars moving from one stage to the next. The sheer dollars is astronomical. I would need Polaris, a beer brand, and major automaker with open checkbooks to all sign on as sponsors to pull it off lol.

It is said that a goal is a dream that you physically write down. Dakar is written down on our team whiteboard but it’s not one that I’m entirely sure we will make happen hahahaha

It would be an incredible experience. I love rally style racing. It’s a much more fun experience for the team, drivers/co-drivers, family and spectators.

If it ever comes to Central or North America I’d sell my first born to participate 😆

I pay attention to see what my buddy Lucas Moraes is doing in the cars. His dad brought me to Brazil for racing moto back in 2008. He still raced moto and his dad owned the factory Yamaha team so we have a pretty cool history together. It’s rad seeing what he’s done in Rally. We used to race each other in his dad’s rally cars around his farm we had our moto tracks at. We waded his race car up pretty bad and his dad cut us off on driving those 🤣 good times!

Caught the update for for yesterday Brabec is still in the lead.... by 7 min. The cars have seen a lot of attrition with Sianz now in the lead. The trucks have been amazing, especially since it’s been so dune intensive. One thing I’ve noticed is the quad class. As of yesterday, there are only 4 guys in the race. Wondering how long they will keep that class.
