Before I get into all the pictures, and the boat. I just wanted to openly say Thanks to Lee @ Schiada. My dad can be exceptionally difficult to deal with at times (old Engineer mentallity.. For those with fathers that are engineers you understand) Lee made the entire deal as painless as possible, and truthfully got my dad (whom never gets excited about anything) excited about boating & the river again for the first time in a long time.. My mom has some health issues that are just coming to light, and she's going to be recovering for a bit, so this weekend was exceptionally important for my parents to have a good time. Lee went way out of his way to make sure the boat was ready on thursday night, and that everything came off without a hitch. There's alot more I could say about all of this, but in summation, I don't think you could buy a boat off a better guy, and a better company.

That being said I'll let the pictures do the talking. :)

I picked up the boat on thursday (notice it's dark out.. The guys stayed late to finish the boat, and go over the boat with me etc..) The water on the ground was becuase they were running the boat on ear muff's to make sure it was tip top, and ready for the river.

I got up fairly early on Friday with Stacy to go put the boat in the water for my dad, but much like a kid the night before christmas he was already up, and ready to go.

That's awesome dave, glad to hear that your dad was so excited (I think any of us would be to take out our first schiada) Absolutely beautiful boat! I'll be keeping an eye out over the summer for it!

The weather was perfect during the days, and there was nobody on the river for most of the weekend. With 4 people and 3 dogs the boat was surprisingly roomy for a 21 Schiada (Small block gives you alot more interior room)

Isn't there some kind of rule regarding shameless self promotion??? I mean, wearing an RDP hat when you're RD is kind of, well, over the top per se. :hmm

The boat is beautiful. Is it new? What motor does it have?

The boat is an 03 Schiada that Lee took in on trade to build a new 24'. It has a Merc Scorpion motor in it (377, 370 prop HP) with a set of Imco powerflows on it.

Isn't there some kind of rule regarding shameless self promotion??? I mean, wearing an RDP hat when you're RD is kind of, well, over the top per se. :hmm

Well the front of the hat said "RD Sux" on it if it makes you feel any better.. I'm kinda pissed actually becuase the river claimed my hat, and my favorite sweatshirt this weekend.. LOL (Don't have the hat anymore)

Thanks.. We all have our fingers crossed.

For you guys that are just interested in the #'s with 4 people and full thanks (65 gallons I believe, we just topped it off) the boat ran about 68 mph on the speedo. As the tanks dropped a little and I was learning a little more about driving it, it was consistently running in the high 60's low 70's. It's a water pick up speedo, so how accurate that is I dunno.. Judging by the ole "seat of the pants" I'd say it's pretty close to the mark. The boat was only tacking in the 4800 RPM range. That being said I'm going out this weekend, and Lee is going to bring some different props to try on the boat, so I'll let you know how it shakes out.

RD;

Wow.
My friend enjoy moments like that with your folks.
I lost my Dad a long time ago, and would give every material thing I own for just one day like that.
Sorry for the morbid thoughts.
The grin on your Father's face is priceless. There is a 18 year old kid inside him causing that look.
All our best to your Mother in her quest, and I hope you guy have many more days like that on the River.
I know of a lake nearby where that boat would like bitchin' cruising around!

Get a smaller prop to get the Scorpion in the 5000-5100 range .
The rev limiter is around 5250 on those .I spin my 26P B1 props 5000 wot
with my black 377's .

Truthfully, my dad has just kinda gotten "settled" into a routine, and the river wasn't part of it. This boat has changed that, so it looks like (if all goes to plan) we'll be having many more of those weekends! :)

That sux your hat went missing. Funny thing is that hat is going to float to the Gulf and some Mexican fisherman will find it and somehow someway it will wind up crossing the boarder and you will see it again on some guy in line at a 7/11 buying beer several years from now.

I feel very much the same way.. People always think, that I don't want my family to goto the river, and just use the house etc.. myself. I'm quite the opposite. I got a million friends with pads on the river I can crash at. Nothing makes me happier, then seeing my parents/family out there enjoying themselves, and living / reliving good times.

Incredible pics RD. Got a little teary eyed myself, seeing your parents happy, makes me think of my parents too. My folks have retired up at Lake Powell, and love it. They love boating too, but at a much slower (pontoon boat) speed. Hope your Mom has a speedy recovery!

Can't wait to see that thing in person this weekend, beautiful boat. :beer

While enjoying the pics I couldn't help but notice that someone had invited Fred Flinstone along for the ride(1st foot pic.). How'd he like the ride? The boat is great looking that's whats expected from Lee though, that 377 is a great motor. Dave that's the boat I was interested in a couple of years back but I wanted an open bow. Looks like your ma and pa are having a great time, keep positive and what ever your ma is going through we will all keep her in our thoughts and prayers. Wish I had your cash so I could be in the Keyes and not on the river in Needles.

Awesome boat. Is nice that this will give you more time to spend with your parents.

Wish my parents enjoyed boating. Think my dad would like it if could ever get him in it.
