Dooood, is it any different anywhere else?

"I need this for Easter, Desert Storm, Halloween, New years, end of year...." ect.

"That is three days/a week away?"

"I know, I didn't have a chance to come by(for the last three months :) ) can you do it?"

"Sure, add 50% to the price"

"Awe come on, why do you have to raise the price?"

"Working while it is dark carries a different price. :)"

Yep, same goes.

People seem to buy into the TV timelines and costs when it is madefortvbullshit.

Brian

Those flip house shows put numbers in there head that they think they can apply. $2500 to remodel a custom bathroom is not happening. Sorry.

"Your failure to prepare does not constitute an emergency on my part"

People that continue to do this are really pissing me off today.

F MAN....get it together!

Rant over
Are you a gelcoater? :D

That’s a saying in our circle for decades.
“Lack of planning and preparation on your part doesn’t constitute an emergency on my part.”

That’s usually the lead in to renegotiating the number in front of the comma. ;)

I got yelled at Saturday for a guy who showed up to drop off his boat, and wanted it Tuesday for his trip this week. First of all we’re closed Sunday Monday, and Told him we were three weeks out and he about flipped his shit at me. Told him good luck and sent him on his way. I did however give him the option to call all the other people in front of him to tell them why he was more important than them, and if they agreed I would take the boat. Seemed fair

Went today to make an appointment for service on the boat. Mark at Savage Marine was willing to squeeze me in before the weekend. Told him I'd wait until next week. Let all the ones that want it yesterday to go first.

True on that I know our part is 350 and up. I'm sure that plus rest of material got a nice shower will swallow that 2500 fast.

My Sister even pulled that $2500 bathroom deal from a show. Asked me why I couldn't do what they did. I added up the tub toilet and tile and it was $2500 for the material. Gutted it to the studs. Relocated everything and I spent about $4500 doing a lot of it myself. Were talking a basic small bathroom. Cast Kohler tub and 1 piece Toto but not trying to replace any of it ever.

You can’t do it for $2500 come on it will take like 2 days slap some tile up it’s cheap at Home Depot. Jk! Most hall baths are 10k and up if there is a tile shower. Had to start telling people I have a minimum!!

It's no different working in an office.
I've spent the better part of my adult life in the mortgage industry on the lending side. Seems every borrower is some half-ass coattail distant relative of the Loan Officer. Same M.O. 99.999% of the time...
Lock the loan for 45 days. Wait 10-15 days to submit. Push the file through until the underwriter issues an approval. Question every condition. Piece-mail documents needed to satisfy said conditions. 5 days before the lock expires, yell, scream, jump-up-and-down and make excuses to shift the blame so it doesn't appear that you're actually the one who dropped the ball, so your cheap-ass doesn't have to pony up for a lock extension!

What was even worst, was trying to get out of the office on a holiday weekend. One time an LO stopped me in the hallway as I was leaving and said "You aren't leaving until you do what you're paid to do!"
To which I replied, "HAHAHAHA, that's funny you think I work for you. But if you give me $2500 in cash, I'll turn around, go back to my desk, and forgo my plans for a few more hours."
They didn't go for that

I don't even think I could install a fiberglass tub and Surround for $2,500. The last bathroom I did had more then that in the vanity alone. Hell I've installed Toto toilets that were twice that. recently had

A lot of these fly by night kitchen remodel guys are using cheap Chinese cabinets. People just see the cheaper dollars and never stop to think how long they will last. We have tore out an insane amount of poorly done remodels. You get what you pay for.

It took years of training, I worked hard on my technique, had a lot of support from friends, read all the books I could find on the subject, took voice classes, worked on my stone cold face and the last ten years of my working career I mastered it..........just say no.:D

My boss has been getting a lot of referrals lately and has been trying to selectively choose which to say yes to just cause we're very understaffed. I told him to give them 2 prices. 1 at normal rates that would dictate a much further out timeline or 1 at all labor at overtime rates so we can work overtime and get it done along with our normal clients on their time schedule. I don't think he's done it yet. I told him I'd be happy to get it done on OT pay. Lol!

It's human nature.
You can give a company 10 years to make a toothpick dispenser, and 2 hours before it's due there will be some excuse why it'll deliver late.

I probably make 60% of my income due to emergencies and lack of planning.

I tell people the only reason I make a plan is so I have something to change

As an enlightened customer I have had ways to deal with rush jobs. Like offering $500 cash
for the dealer to put my drive back on on a Sunday. He seemed pretty happy with that.
