Good Deed ? I'm bettin the guy was hoping to snatch something of value, then jump back on his bike and haul-ass.
He seemed extremely frustrated when he found nothing worth stealing. Funny regardless :p

I was guessing he was waiting to get through that blockade to get to work and decided to just check that backpack himself to get it over with.
It worked lol

This guy should get paid and hired.
Guys like this are usually the kind of guys who enlist in our military, when the war is in full swing.
He probably also works two jobs, and is received well by others.

Or he was suicidal, and under the influence. ;)

They were waiting for the bomb squad and the tool on the bike felt like they were taking too long to get there and he was being held up.

So he decided to "clear the area" himself.

HOLY SHIT!! I'm laughing so hard right now! Can we watch that sack in slow-mo! LOL

I'm guessing it'd be less funny if it was a bomb and it exploded and killed a bunch of people because this numnut.

So am I the only who thinks that maybe the cops cheese grated his lips on the sidewalk because he may be trying to detonate something that didn't go off when he wanted it to?

Maybe...

Or they thought he might of started a timer or trip wire and the knocked him off his feet as fast as they could so they could save his life by getting him away from it.

LOL that guy just killed 45 guys daily overtime

Reminds me of the ankle deep water rescues in Scottsdale during the monsoon. 20 cops 6 fire stations responding to a van in 4” of water.

Everyone logs a call.

I'd imagine the comments would be a little different if this happened at the Boston Marathon bombing. Then you'd see the same people criticizing the cops say "Why'd the cops let him get that close to the bomb?!?!?"

Is logging a call important somehow? Do they get more pay for logging more calls?

No. They can legitimately waste more time. Kinda hard to claim overtime when your asleep in the car.

So, they get overtime when they go on calls? Aren’t there cops, bomb squads, and fire trucks on duty during the day?

If they are getting overtime when they are supposed to be there, that is total BS!

Not during their normal hours. They want to be on a call at the end of their hours.

Calls logged legitmizes work levels and the need for more workers and equipment whether you need it or not. If you're always asking for more money then 'sand bag' the work level as a data point to help prove your case.

LOL The Fire dept at the river was reporting double the true amount of calls by saying each vehicle that went to the scene was a call. Maybe that's why the fire engine follows the ambulance to a sprain ankle call?

When I sat down with the batallion chief in our area for lunch it was all about the numbers and how it translated into revenue.

LOL This is a small portion of the responders for 1 guy with his foot stuck in the canal grate.

So, the more calls the fire department runs, the more they make. Did not know that. Must be why they want people to call 911 for everything. I’ve always thought that it is dumb to have the fire department follow the ambulances. Do you get to sit down with the battalion chief often? Scottsdale I assume?

That picture looks like a complete waste of resources. I bet they could do that with 2 guys. Stupid.

From what I was told, Not the more they make, the more they can substantiate a bigger budget. In the case of Ambulance transport it does translate into making more revenue. Each transport means more revenue. Get your transport numbers up and make more $. I have 2 relatives in fire and LEO. How they capture overtime is nutty. NO private sector company would ever survive running a business like that.

Look Im all for supporting LEO and Fire to the max, its how the business end of it is run on taxpayers back is the issue here.

Then why does the fire department even go with the ambulances? Who gets the transport money?
