How's the acceleration with a few people aboard? Water ski takeoff speed? What's the top end? Nice boat!

They call it a 24' but if I remember correctly, that doesn't include the extra foot I had built into the front for easy docking and loading. As of acceleration for skiing, I would imagine that it would do fine but truthfully never used it for that purpose. I played with some props when I first bought the boat and ended up using what gave me the best overall performance and fuel mileage. With the current prop that is on it, the motor is spinning at less than 4000rpm with a top speed of somewhere around 40 mph. I believe the motor is built to spin at 5800 rpm which tells me that if propped correctly there is more on the big end. I just spent $1400 on a new ECU from Simon motorsports as the old Merc one seemed to be sucking fuel and acting up with unjustified alarms. Simon ensured me that this new ECU is the cats meow and all is good with this one in the one time I took it out. I do remember running a top end prop but only remember the Smartcraft telling me that it was sucking down the fuel. Used more as a family boat and when I have the urge to scream n fly I pull out the DCB.

I work overseas and will be gone for another couple weeks but am planning on a 4th of July river run for anyone wanting to see how it performs. Thx JG

Not interested as the time and effort it would take for me to pull the motor then find a buyer would end up costing you the same amount to buy the boat with the motor. Think of it instead as you getting a free motor with the boat!

At this point the boat is still for sale and is located in Bullhead. Unfortunately I am located in CA but can work out a viewing at some point for serious buyers. Thx JG

Why so many people want to buy without motor? Is this a good motor for a poon/tritoon? Frank
Actually only one person interested in the motor that I can see. These motors were built on the 2.5 blocks by Mercury Racing division with less compression and an alternator and is the reason for an output of 225 hp instead of up to 300hp. These have always been a motor people want to run on smaller cats, bass boats etc. As for the best motor for a pontoon, I'm sure there is better like one of the big four strokes or direct injection motors but would obviously add another $15k to the price of the boat at this point. The problem is that if I sell the motor seperately then I would have to fork out the $20k for one of the big four strokers taking my goal of upgrading to a big cat with it for the meantime at least. My boat or boats + cash for a 26' - 30' Eliminator ICC, F-26 or F-29 bow rider, Magic or Conquest. Need something a little bigger yet still with some power and room to entertain! Let me know what you got. Looking for a $60k-$120k range boat to trade up to.

Supposed to have someone coming to look at it once I'm back in the states in a week and a half. Also many others showing interest in motor alone so we'll see. If I end up selling the motor alone then I will update this thread.

Not really interested in seperating the motor from boat as it seems to be more of a pain than its worth as I live in CA yet the boat is in AZ unless all the stars line up and someone can make it over at the same time I happen to be there. With that said it sounds like I should be able to get a trade in value on a big four stroke that would make it so I don't have to do anything but drop the boat off. WOuld prefer to sell the package as I've sold my DCB and would like that money and the sale of this to go towards a big cat.
