No, that's the problemThe bigger question.... did you finally kill that spider?
Ya it is common practice when houseboating on powell to tow your toy boats behind the houseboat when going to find you cove/beach for the trip. Save fuel in the toys especially if you go a long distance like we do when we go to last chance bay. It is actually pretty easy and safe to do.Holy moly that's a heavy group of mclarens. Not the usual 600s etc.
Also I am very intrigued by the houseboat I presume? towing the boats towing the seadoos. Is that common practice
Miss this…
The jail cells in Rosarito didn't even offer a toilet or bunk and I don't recall any beaches during the 60's in 'The OC' as you're imagining them.Photo Dump ... Busy 72 hours. Va friends wedding then scrammed back west avoiding hurricane to Rosarito where horses stroll on our "Private" beach. Pretty much as I imagine OC coast back in 60s before fancies arrived.

One thing our group does that I would recommend is we stagger the line lengths of the boats we are towing so they make a zipper instead of being side by side. If you have to stop the houseboat abruptly in an emergency then the boats being towed can start swaying left and right since they are no longer in forward motion. If they are side by side they can swing over and hit each other. In a zipper formation they can sway side to side without hitting each otherwe
Hmm that is interesting. I wonder what causes that to happen to you guys. Thanks for the heads up just so i can keep an eye on it on future trips. We've tried the zipper method but the problem is the boats will ‘swing’ at different speeds in a turn and you get the lines trying to cross. Just doesn’t work for us . But yeah we just towed back from Rock Creek. That was taken just past warm creek.
Carnitas??
I in no way want to come across as critical in my response and will only say that I studied the history of Orange County prior to settling there part time in 1990. There were two farming families that held all the farm land prior to development. [Early settlers] The creation of the entire man made harbor [US Army Corps of Engineers] that took place 100 years ago changed their future. Then came fishing industry followed by creation of the largest small vessel harbor in N America by redirecting a river. Prior to that Newports water area was useless marsh land. All the islands [8 as I recall] were man made and then came popularity and cheap home sights. Interestingly the wealthy folks of that era thought of waterfront living as only for the poor farming folks and they preferred to live inland. as farming was the $. The primary land holder family [Irvine Ranch] used Japenese to work producing orange groves, and several other crops. When I moved there and began meeting families settled in the early days I met people born in say in late 50s who rode horses in what is now Fashion Island [Corona Del Mar] and they'd tell me when it would rain hard the oranges would be knocked of the branches and would be carried down streams to the ocean and the sea would appear orange with bobbing oranges. Crazy right. For us boaters in todays era the Dunes RV park in Back Bay was a place where they would water ski.... I later learned that due to the urban sub developments of the interior of OC & the IE that runoff all fed as water does to the sea and would come through Back Bay filling it with silt and causing depths to decrease which is why we see dredging to maintain waterways in the harbor for the boating community so crucial to the values of properties there. I'm rambling and there is so much more to tell but perhaps it gives some historical context to that pristine area of our country. The jail cells in Rosarito didn't even offer a toilet or bunk and I don't recall any beaches during the 60's in 'The OC' as you're imagining them.

With regards to Rosarito / TJ Jail . . . well I have one that tells how bad it 'can' be.I in no way want to come across as critical in my response and will only say that I studied the history of Orange County prior to settling there part time in 1990. As for the Rosarito jail.... no idea and hope to never know. I saw a 60 minutes program many years ago about the TJ jail and how folks never return once entering so lets just hope nobody we know experiences that. Third world country and yes the cartel is here and us locals know where to avoid. Kinda like the major cities of our beloved USA of late. Me< I'm just waiting for my boy Trump to return! Peace out
HA 007? Tuesday for us.

Thanks... he's a year-and-a-half.Looks pretty young to have that done. Beautiful dog.

Dont doubt one word of that story.... some may recall and old 60 Minutes show on the TJ jail.... some never return from that place. I knew a private eye who had some business just south of boarder. He crossed and "forgot" he had a pistol under seat in a lock box. They found it and off to TJ jail he went. I think it ultimately cost him a week in jail & $60K in fees and bribes on both ends. His lawyer, TJs lawyer and the judge all got paid. Scary. Federales are still popping folks driving down here and we all separate our cash hiding it in shoes just keeping a few bucks in wallet for them on pullovers. Its part of the deal. I take taxis after dark.... $5 piece of mind. With regards to Rosarito / TJ Jail . . . well I have one that tells how bad it 'can' be.
Short Version . . .
Had a coupple buddies surfing down there for the weekend in the early 90's.
Partying in a bar one night, they met some local girls who wanted to 'have some fun'.
So they took them back to their place ( a friends mobile home on the beach) and had some 'consensual relations' . . . a camera was used during said relations.
Next night at the bar . . . I guess some better looking girls showed up, and my buddies ignored the girls from the night before, so they went to the 'Policia' who was there and told them that they had just been raped.
Off they went to jail. They were in a local jail for a few days . . . then they got transferred to Tijuana.
During all ths time, they were reported as missing, then they were finally tracked down and allowed to make some calls.
Long story short, one of the guys was able to get a hold of his mom and she had to come down, and get the camera from where they were staying. She developed the film (yes film back then) to show the police that it was 'consensual' . . . and also pay $10K in pay-off as well to get them released. (can you imagine having to tell your mom to come get the camera to prove it)???
One of the guys later told me that they were scheduled to be transferred to a prison in Mainlad mexico the following week . . . where the chances of ever seeing them again was greatly reduced. He said he had to fight guys daily to keep his shoes.
No thank you !!!!
