Great day on the lake. We dropped football this year because of who his coach was going to be. We have a long negative history with this guy and he is just toxic. He plays daddy ball and makes any kid that will beat his kid feel inferior, not coach them and tell the kid "I can't teach you that because you ______" blaming the kid without even spending 1 min trying.

His last excuse (he has given 3-4 over the last 3 years) as to why he couldn't teach my son the spin for shotput is that my son has no ballance. His son does the spin and throws less than 18" further than my son that just muscles the shotput out there, if my son did the spin he would destroy his son.

Anyway my son officially learned how to single ski, wakeboard and wake surf today. Super proud of him.

Looks like poor ballance to me🤣

That is awesome Dan. My father as a kid would go fishing in Tom’s Place with his grandfather. If you are around Tom’s Place take so pictures. I have plans of going there one day. 👍

I was just at Tom's Place two days ago. After my wheeling session I stopped in the Cafe for a Vanilla shake, it was incredible. The people there are so dang nice.

Well that sucks.... bad coaches can be big issues however learning to work around or through a guy like that builds character as you know. And to sacrifice football as a big strong kid is awful for such a reason and too boot the weight room training feeds directly into winter/ spring track seasons where he could be learning footwork on spin. I had a similar challenge so actually went out and with my pops help found an independent shot trainer who helped me beat my school record senior year. Just food for thought... not judging.

We have an 8 year history with him starting with my daughter and every year was negative, I have tried to kill him with kindness and it doesn't matter. His own mom yelled at him last year asking why he is such an angry person. I had another coach working with my son and he pulled that coach from my son and put his kid with that coach and took over my son's coaching (lack there of) again, he doesn't want my kid beating his kid. I may have a guy to coach my son now in the off season, he had a full ride in throwing to UCLA, if we can't make that work I am going to approach the HS coach and see if my son can start working out with the HS kids since my son will be going to that HS next year anyway.

There is way more to this story and this coach and how he made my son feel but I can't put it on a public forum. He has no business being around kids.

Lots of bad coaches at this level and it makes sense given that they don't get paid and most talented guys have real jobs so the pool is bottom feeders that sometimes develop power trips. Tough scenario and the kids are the recipients.

I coach travel ball and HS and I can tell you, the amount of shitty, self absorbed coaches is out if hand. I pride myself on being honest and fair

This guy is a school administrator and a HS football coach, well a football coach. An administrator should never make a kid feel inferior

Nice shake down [is that what its called?] I was thinking bout you yesterday wondering how the new ride is feeling on ya after some time together. What are the differences you are experiencing in this one from last ride? Look at you man; keeping SoCal Speedboating alive all by yourself!

Yeah good to hear... and I'm sure there exist some top guys....you gotta figure its such a tough fit to find quality guys to coach due to all the pieces in that scenario... just the time alone is a fulltime commitment.

Had to stop by this home. Probably not many here have ever been. Whose childhood home is this?
Hint--the City where this home is and I share a name. The Family and I share a last name--but no relation.

The home above was not the purpose of the trip—was just passing by. Here is what the neighborhood looked like.

Oh and a quick pick of Lake Mead—but not from my plane though.

Yeah--thats MJ bithpalce. They had a few plaques in the driveway. It was a 2bd home for 9 kids. 6boys on triple bunks and 3 girls slept on pull out couch in front room. During winter--said they most slept in kitchen so stove could keep them warm.
We had to drive from Indy to Chicago and you pass right through Gary Indiana.
The area right around the home "seemed" safe. Plenty of other tourists taking pics.
Home is close to freeway so you dont have to drive around very far--but that town is something else.
What I immediacy noticed--no fast food places. Only saw 1-2 gas stations. Very few open businesses.
Lots of abandoned and rundown homes.
