All I think about are the families that could have never made it home. If someone like that took out my wife and kids I would either take him out in the court building or pay someone in prison to rape him daily for a year then bleed him out slowly .

In my country, we call up a MQ-9 Reaper drone armed with AGM-114 Hellfire missles and blow that fucking idiot to kingdom come.

I have no idea where this tolerance for this BS comes from. That guy put dozens of people at risk of injuries or worse and then the cops had him cornered in a cul de sac and could have blocked him in and instead chose to let the the guy pass. WTF kind of policing is this?

The risk to the general public doesn't matter to the liberals, the criminal has more rights.

Believe me, the cops wanted to waste this guy

You can blame the media for that. Cops are gun shy and over thinking it now. God forbid you shoot a “minority”. The news station will knock on your bedroom window at 2am (true story).

Yeah true, but f that. I don't care what color, creed or what god he may or not pray too. Should have never made it to a hospital.

Notice cops appear to tackle someone next to the white car just after the truck backed into the cruiser?

That's just ridiculous. Should have unloaded on him the 2nd time he was ramming police officers. Not the cops fault as they've been neutered.

That was the driver of white car. The truck was pressed into it and then the cop SUV slammed the truck. He got slammed more by the cop and was probably pissed and in the way.

How the hell was he able to start the van and the truck so fast? The van owner says the van was locked and he has the keys.

Finally finished this thing. Feel bad for the guy in the white elantra/sonata/altima looking thing(can't tell its already missing a front bumper) obviously he didn't know the gnarly chase that had just ensued but I can see how I'd be pissed initially in that situation.

That is the craziest chase I have seen. It is unbelievable how the cops hands are tied. Happening weekly if not daily. So the rest of society is held captive in their homes without the ability to stop these asshats out to do stupid things without any consequences. Maybe they are arresting the guy in the white car because he was trying to stop the guy from continuing on.

Ironically the CA election is in hour about 38, and politics created this whole situation.

I missed the beginning last night but watched it this morning. This one is embarrassing for the LE community. That van never should have been allowed to leave. The thousands of people who were at risk after that moment far out weigh the choice to end it right there. Sooo many times they could have stopped this one early but they didn't. They blocked him in a cul-du-sac later and he drove right out.

don't be so quick to judge... ya it looks embarrassing but new policies due to public risk and other factors come into play... those cops showed tremendous restraint...

years ago they would have unloaded on the suspect vehicle when he backed up into the radio car....not anymore

the cul-de-sac was the prime opportunity if somebody in the conga line had a spike strip

Or just blocked him in with the six units that were there. No just let him drive right on out of a dead end culdesac.

He was driving with such disregard it's pretty challenging to intentionally put yourself in harms way like that..

Maybe easy to imagine purposely putting yourself in the path of a speeding idiot, and walking away a hero after impact, but not so easy to actually do so..

somebody would have been his target for escape and probably injured...maybe worse

sorry, aint gonna be me intentionally putting myself in that position.. I'm going home after this

I don't have to tell you police cars are not outfitted with safety equipment like a race car .. risk of injury is too high

Would have been a much shorter chase if he would have just stole a Ford....damn Chevy's are unstoppable.

Really surprised they didn't stop it when he stole the van. Once he started ramming the car it should have been game on.

How much speed could he attain from a culdesac?? It's not like he was driving a prostock car that could launch. And they destroyed a cruiser anyway. They left a space for him to cruise on through.

Policy is a pain when you are in a situation like this, you can only do as much as they will let you. Most people will sit back and Monday morning quarterback you but have never been in this type of situation.

This was one of the craziest pursuits in a while. I was glued to the tv and didn't want to go grab dinner.

I watched it live last night when I saw all the helicopters in the sky, i am in west Brea. I immediately felt bad for the dude in the white car that said in his interview that he got out of the car and was worried about being in the crossfire, and then gets tackled down and cuffed and detained. They released him, but still no idea what that was about. I'd be pissed.

Well, the thing is this guy was not opposed to doing some offroading. Even if they had blocked the pavement/curb portions of the street, the guy would have gone up into someone's lawn and planter to go around if he had to. When setting up a blockade in that situation, the cops probably would not drive up into someone's lawn and planter from one side of the street to the other to make a complete wall. And even if they did, that guy might have tried to make a way out by punching into someone's living room.

The thing to do would be to ventilate that fucker as soon as he started driving back toward the cop cars. Of course then there's the issue of houses in the background with people in them...

You, me and everybody else who was riding the Metrolink train back home watched it.

Comical to listen to the excuses people gave when they received a call...but wanted to watch the pursuit, instead. 😄

Wouldn't it be nice if the news gave us a follow-up story or two about these chases, especially those with significant damage or even death. They go for the thrill and it is over. The other side is that the populace would be really pissed when they found out how little the penalties might be.
