Cracked and bent rim - Is this fixable

My buddy owns a wheel repair shop. They do some crazy things to wheels now a days. He should be able to do that.

Jasons wheel repair in Chino. 951-212-3362

He has a Facebook page under the same name. He has pictures of some of the wheels they have fixed.

Short answer is absolutely it's fixable.. I straight up Taco'd a set of rims in my younger years and had more spokes and 2 tone paint etc.. I got them back and they were better then new. The shops that can do that kinda shit though are getting fewer and far between. If you can't find anybody let me know and I'll make a few phone calls and find a place. I'd expect it to be between 3-400 bucks to fix it.

Anytime you repair them, you risk the aluminum getting brittle. Yes, they can be repaired, but be aware of stacking repairs on top of each other- you'll just get more cracks over time.

The shops that can do that kinda shit though are getting fewer and far between. If you can't find anybody let me know and I'll make a few phone calls and find a place. I'd expect it to be between 3-400 bucks to fix it.

The rims are running between 450-500 bucks a piece new(looking for a used one now), so if it's in the 3-400 to fix might get a new one. Or just have the kid buy a new set of cheaper rims and sell the other three decent ones and maybe come out ahead in the whole deal.:rolleyes

His other 3 decent ones are very decent though pops. Curb rash and chipped paint on all of them.

No way will Jason advice fixing that wheel. DOT and the Insurance Industry frowns on this type of repair.

As I commented on the pic yesterday, not reparable.

We were barely able to repair the trailer wheels for you a few years back.

As for where the OP's crack is, sure Jason could probably do it but he won't.

Text him the pic but not in a safe area for repair. Weld repairs are very safe and if done right they won't crack in the same area. Jason is by far the best in this industry.

Talk about response time, that took about a whole 3 minutes for an answer:thumbup:, He would not recommend repairing the rim. Problem solved. Well at least for that rim LOL

Oh and BTW, any repair shop that thinks they can or could get 3-4 hundy for wheel repairs ain't in business for more than a day, LOL
