I’m really surprised that CVT/belts are still the preferred method of transmission.

At the price point and power levels these cars are at now, I’d expect to see something more robust like a torque converter autobox.

It has to be a cost issue to not have one. Yamaha trans has to not be strong enough for a 4 seater (weight). They’d dominate the market .

I want to borrow it for a desert bar ride.

Come and get it before I put the new tires on. I'll even fill it up for you!

Have heard the same thing out by me, I told my friend not to do it but he didn’t listen and got five figures. At some point these guys will get caught and end up in jail.

unfortunately... no they won’t

Yeah a manual gearbox with a clutch would get destroyed by the weight and power. They don’t like to take abuse in most off-road toys.

A torque converter automatic would be mucho better. If they can afford to put them into a $15k Hyundai, then they should be able to put one into a $30k SXS, methinks.

I was wondering like a Folts VW van auto a few light sand cars used to run in the early 2000’s.
Never saw one in person.

They were/are pretty weird. They'd take a Vanagon slush box, and do some black magic and crossbreeding. I think I remember hearing Audi and Chevy, but that was 15-20 years ago. Dave Griener in Orange had a turbo bug with one in it, 10 second car when that meant something.

Seems like a vanagon all wheel drive box, or a subaru flipped around could be reconfigured. A guy in Oz made the ring and pinion set to do it. Reverse rotation stuff.

I was thinking about this the other day. Something like a 10 speed auto seems like it would be great. I swore I would never buy another SXS until they got rid of the belts, but I finally caved. Maybe the next one...

I think a manual is coming, the market demand is there. I also think the price increase on the machine is what will keep me from buying one. I don't like financing toys, I never have. I won't do it at this stage of life. Looking at these things from actual cost vs. payment really makes you look at what you are getting fro your money...and a SXS with a 40k sticker does not pull at my heartstrings, no matter what HP or trans it has. I like my Turbo S a lot, and had to convince myself to buy it.
The next vehicle I buy with 40k on it is gonna be a hot rod of some type.
I think Polaris has the car ready. Would not be surprised if Can Am does too.
However they are selling everything they can build right now, there is no reason to introduce new tech at this point. When it is right for them, they will.

I just sold a perfect PW80 for $800. Sold it quick to a nice guy who's kid will make memories with it!

Headed to Parker Yamaha in a few to pick up some stuff I ordered. See if they have any inventory. Was wiped out last trip. Storage yard empty and just a few units on the showroom.

Just bought me grandson a Kawasaki KLX 140. Most of the smaller bikes are hard to find. However, most shops had plenty of the off road bikes in the 400-450 range. What I found strange was that when we got to Temecula motorsports it was packed. Had my grandson sit on the full size and it fit him. He is a big kid. Had already got the deal worked out. Told the salesman I'll take it. Saw another family standing next to the bike with their kid sitting on it. The salesman asked how I was paying. I said cash, check or credit card, whatever he wanted. He said good because the other family wanted it, but they needed to finance it and were waiting to see if they were approved. Maybe I am a curmudgeon, but it seems to me if you need to finance a $4,700 toy, perhaps you should reconsider.

Cheers, Steve

Had to scramble to place a deposit on the only base RZR XP4 that AZ West has in stock....turbos on hold sale due to clutch recall. The unit I have a deposit on just came off the truck, and sounds like I was lucky to get it.
Dealers have almost no stock, I originally was targeting the Turbo S but with no idea of when they will inspected, fixed or released for sale, I jumped on this one so I can have a car for the season.
They told me they have less than 30 new units of any type in stock, so with Turbos out, basically no 4 seater stock.

This is my first sxs, and with 2019/2020 used selling for within a few thousand of new, I went for it.

Honestly I feel the belts are an OK solution. The Turbo RZRs and Can Ams seem to do pretty well. The belts are light, absorb shock and take 10 mins to change.

If the speed car is good, it will force others to change, as these cars need an overdrive and shifting on the fly. Polaris is working on the 2 liter RZR R with a transmission supposedly.

I have a buddy that is about to start construction on a huge open lot in Long Beach. He was just approached to rent out the property for a promo event for the release of the new RZR. It is pretty hush hush but he did hear that you will be shifting the new RZR.

Yup, now is the time to dump all the toys. In a year or so, you can buy upgraded newer ones for less money. The thought was floating around about significantly upgrading the boat this fall up until things came unglued price wise this spring. Now I will hold for another year or two..
I believe you are correct. I'm thinking about listin the Parker house along with the ranch in the next month or two. and maybe move back to the Oc.

Even have a little mercury powered jet boat that needs to go! :)

I was thinking more of when the super-chip shortage lets up.

RV dealers I know say sales and repairs are slowing down.
Recently it was over a 2 to 3 month wait for repairs, now they'll take ya when ya call.

I was shocked when I saw kids 50cc quads that usually ran around $2200 are flirting with $4 grand.

Biden talking up shutting off another oil main line. All this nonsense should keep Heels outta office. It's why they are keeping Harris low profile.

If fuel prices stay where they are are or keep going up I'm guessing fall of 2022 we'll see prices on toys come down.

Plan on it. Happens every time.

I'm seeing lots of 2017 & newer Rzr's up for sale. Still at nutty prices but reduced every time I see them on FB MKP.
