Yes, I am getting to know the area pretty good.

Jimmy's American Tavern: My marina owns a marina on the south side of the bay so I get slip assignment parking for lunch/dinner at the marina which is right in front of Jimmy's. Damn good burgers, really cool restaurant. THere's also a small public dock in front as well as dinghy parking.

Pizza Nova: Has really good reviews but have not eaten here yet. Right next to Jimmy's. Will try this one in a couple weeks when we go back.

Bali Hai: Famous for the Mai Tai which contains no fruit juice. Good food, beautiful views. Dock available. Been here 4 times now and every time we're on the boat.

Waterfront Grill: This is the restaurant at our marina and it's actually really good. Best priced meal on the water we've found. Docking isn't an issue for guests, nobody knows our marina is down there, although it is the newest marina in the bay.

There is a place you can dock the boat in Coronado, they charge $1/foot for parking. From there, it is a 5 minute walk to the main part of Coronado where shopping and restaurants are endless. I haven't wanted to pay that yet, but if we wanted to hang out in downtown Coronado for 3-4 hours, I could see us doing it. Just haven't had the desire to yet.

There's also some places right across the bay from the Marriott on Coronado that has a bock, but the water is always rough and there is not protection from the rough water. In San Diego bay, water doesn't get big, it's just like a lake. But there is significant traffic at times with large boats/yachts that make some big wakes. The dock is not protected from those wakes. Probably not bad a night when traffic is minimal, but during the weekend, the bay is pretty busy.

By the way, the top pic is about 1-2 miles south of the bay entrance. That mountain on the left in the pic is Point Loma. In order to head north up the coast, you need to head southwest 2 miles and around since there are large kelp beds around the point.

The next pic is a bay called Glorietta, it's the main bay of Coronado. It's where everyone anchors and hangs out for the day. We're usually there with friends on Saturdays when we are in town. Water is about 15' deep and there's a small beach people can get to to play on if they choose.

Definitely will try. It will be a very busy 3 days for us as I have to entertain about 30 people. I'll be cruising the bay with different groups. Your photo on the beach you posted is our spot we hang. Glorietta Bay. Be sure to hit up Jimmys Famous for lunch.

Yes I'm getting into San Diego Thurs night and will be around Shelter Island most of the day Fri. I'm not taking my boat out, but will be with my dad on my parents' 40' Sea Ray. Let me know what your schedule is.
