So I am cruising Craigslist looking for a Honda Z50 for my son and stumble upon a 1973 CB350-four.

The pipes are wrong and it shows a bit of corrosion from living in a crate at the beach but its should make a nice Starbucks bike.

Anybody out there have a Z50 they want to sell?

I wouldn't even think about restoring it.

Get it running properly with original parts and leave it alone!!!

That bike is beautiful.
Since I bought the CT70 I have been educating myself about the mini-world, and went out back to see what my sons had piled up behind the shop over the years; they had a dozen or so mini-bikes and what have you, got a couple running over the years, like kids will do as they learn....
There is a mini-trail 50 out there, or what is left of one. The frame, fork, tank and front and rear suspension are there. It has a 70 engine in it.
I think it is going to be a winter resto project. It needs a ton of work, but the parts are out there if you look hard enough.

When I said restore I meant with NOS parts

The bike is a bit of a paradox... The PO said that a couple in Florence Oregon bought four of them new in 73. Left two of them in crates and worked on wearing out the other ones. This is the last one of the group. About 80% of it looks like a sub 300 mile bike but there are a few discrepancies. Pipes are gone. Two NKG plug wires (two NOS wires), scratches on the rims, some nicks and road grime, the air cleaner is NOS and spotless, the seat pan is so clean it looks reproduction, fuel line replaced, the tank is resprayed and has gold tape stripping, front rotor does not have a mark on it...Bike starts and runs well on 3 cylinders :cool

If the story is actually true I imagine some parts were borrowed from this bike (like the pipes) to keep the other bikes running. The tank repaint is easy to see over all the years and some of the other chips and scrapes could be sloppy storage and assembly. I have not looked at the cam chain tension bolt to see if it has been adjusted. The chain is silent so if it is un-touched it makes the miles believable. A set of pipes, 2 NOS plug wires, correct fuel line, and some careful detailing the bike will be a museum piece... (Except for the fact I bought it to ride!)

Nice bike. I have been looking at the Honda Scramblers from the 60s, for some reason these vintage Hondas have been catching my interest.
I had a '71 CB 750 dresser, it was a fun bike.
Good luck w/ the 350:thumbsup

Spent a few hours last night and dropped the float bowl in the dead cylinder. Lapped the sticky needle valve with toothpaste to free up the action and we now have 4 angry cylinders adding their share to the 37 horsepower this beast makes.

Probably shouldn't have fired it up at 11PM on a Sunday night but hell its a long weekend...
