There are ways to pull HP out at the hit but i cant see them purposely dropping cyls. The amount of damage that could acure from "hydro locking" would be pretty significant. Compressing that much fuel with no ignition would be hell on rods, bearings, valves, ect. Not to mention the inconsistency of getting them relit once the plugs are saturated. Seems like too big of a gamble at this level of racing.

Looks like Darryl Ehrlich is the only one listening in the photo, everyone else must not like the sound LOL

Okay, no dog, yeah my info is if the cylinder goes down it hydraulics, probably, potentially. And once you wash the cylinder and plug down things get nasty. Also, once the motor goes full twist, killing the mag won't shut it off.
This grid 44 sounds interesting. I am by no means up on the latest.
all this latest 2 step makes me cringe. The cranks got to look like a rubber band.

Do any of you have a source to order large reprints of both of these pictures. I would love to have them matted and framed. Thanks!!

Once nitro is truly lit and jamming the plug is pretty much consumed and the motor is dieseling. I'm not sure how many fuel motors are running a grid and 44 it's not really a nitro setup besides maybe the data logging. There are some 2 step ignitions systems that have come along and keep cylinders "lit" with a ridiculous amount of timing pulled out compared to dropping and relighting. Technology has come a crazy long way over the last couple year's and is hard to keep up with.

I looked it up and you're right , tech is amazing now. The ability to dial back individual cylinders seems crazy to me.
Plus what was said about igniting a swimming pool, holy crap, 44 amps!

That's not how I read it

That's the way I read it as well.. He was saying they were dropping cylinders to back the power off on launch and then re-introducing them after launch.

Cool pictures. Every member should have the opportunity to stand hard on 8000HP and hold on for his life.
