Shit lake Mohave is finally getting a bar. I grew up going to Laughlin and launching out of Katherine’s. I switched to havasu in my late teens for the party and just continued that as I got older. I haven’t been on Mohave in prob 10 years. I remember it always being windy etc. I wouldn’t mind going one of these days to check it out.

I saw that the other day it looks like it has promised the Beauty is it’s only about an hour and 10 minutes from Las Vegas. Because Lake Mead sucks. We i’m reaching out to them in attempt to be a supplier for the cabanas another shade structures.

Haven't been to Cottonwood in over ten years now…used go every year in August/September during my married life. Been over every inch of Mohave…ran up to the dam every year. First time to the dam there was only rebar sticking out of the cliffs for the new bridge…the next day we drove our motorhome over it. I have hundreds or photos but have no desire to look at my ex. Pretty much watched that bridge get built from below. August/September is the best time for that place and yes…it can get rough. Pushed through a couple of pretty bad monsoons in my little 23 Executive Sleekcraft…decided to go bigger after that. Last time I was there we stopped in Willow…it had gotten a full face lift and was pretty nice. A lot of bitchen coves north of the basin.

When staying in those Cottonwood Cove motel rooms, how many other inmates washed their dishes in the bathtub, after barbecuing on those grills in front of the rooms? They had no kitchens or kitchen sinks. But, we always enjoyed Cottonwood Cove and upper Lake Mohave.

Between going out in a 12' aluminum skiff with 4 friends and a huge cooler of beer, and then getting caught in a storm; to jumping off some ridiculously high cliffs, we all should have died there in the 1980's.
But that was a summer like no other.

I know it 'needs' it in a big way . . . but I hope to sneak in 1 more trip before they start so I can say goodbye to the crickets & bugs in the room ! 😊 Lots of great memories in that old place . . . . hate to see it go & lose it's charm . . . but I know it's long overdue...

Mohave sucks. Stay away. Too windy also...I was forced to buy my 43 in order to handle the swells.

Mead sucks because of the Vern level of the lake and the ramps of the way to service boats on top of that is a dangerous windy lake with very few pristine shoreline, or Mojave is very much protected by the mountains in the cottonwood area.

Just happened to be in the marina store when all the prospective bidders were having a walk through with the government reps. One of them told me the reason no one would invest money in the marina was due to the short time span of the leases and how investments didn’t have enough time to be recouped, but now that was changed. This was in June of 2022, the wheels of government move slowly.

I wish they would remodel Katherine's, or at least change out the plywood mattresses!
