My girlfriend is DEATHLY allergic to dogs. If she isn't paying attention and one licks her it's an immediate trip to the ER and hopefully we don't have to use one of her Epi pens. So when people walk into a store with their dog and don't give a shit about the law or others, it pisses me off. Trained and certified assistant dogs are just fine since they are trained to NOT interact with other people.

what law? there is no federal law prohibiting animals in businesses? it's he business owners choice whether they allow them or not. Don't get me wrong it annoys me as well, but i respect the owners right to choose.

you would be surprised at how many businesses are dog friendly. I used to have a list, and there was some names on there that were shocking.. only one i can remember right now is victoria's secret.

Health code law. When I worked at Jamba Juice in high school and was a shift manager, we were responsible for making sure nobody brought dogs in for that reason.

Well use an example here..... say I went into a Jamba Juice or any other restaurant where they are preparing food right near by (any open kitchen, sushi bar, etc) and there was a dog in there and they do what dogs do and shake or scratch or what not. I haven't met many dogs at all that don't lose hair when doing so. Now, that small hair that is floating in the air, say it lands in the smoothie/food being prepared and it happens to be for someone like my girlfriend. Nobody knows the hair is there but it is. She swallows the hair and goes into aniphalct shock.

This is why it is against health code to allow dogs into places where food is being preparred. But nobody has the balls to stand up to these people that think there dogs are people and can go everywhere they can.

BTW, I'm a dog lover. I've always had dogs growing up and they have been allowed everywhere in the house. So no problem with dogs, just particular owners.

That's when my parents had originally got theirs back in the early 90's, business licenses and such. Now, anybody can join. I'm not a business owner and have a membership. Around here they still do the early entry for business owners but it's only 1 hour early so 9 am instead of 10 for the general public.

Their profits are almost entirely derived from membership fees. Their margins on retail sales are razor thin...that's their business model.

So of course they want as many members as possible.

I seen a 60 minutes type show a while ago. Top seller at Costco was toilet paper and membership wasn't far behind.

We buy all paper products there so I guess we fit in to the category, we even buy their house brand paper towels (vs rags) for the shop , we find alot of the stuff we buy we end up giving "halvesies" to our kids for their families because alot of it wont keep and the two of cant eat ahead of the spoilage rates ... Love their Costco House preprepared Chicken Alfredo

Guy comes into my shop today, pushing his 2 dogs in a baby stroller, almost kicked him out, LOL. Instead took his $70.00 and said thanks.

Your talking about food preparation. Costco for the most part is a big box store.. Your g/f's situation sucks, but lets be honest here.. That's an extremely small % of the population. Doesn't make sense to bend the masses to the will of the minority. I agree I don't like the dogs in Costco / Home Depot etc.. but if the owners are dog lovers and say it's ok in their businesses than it is what it is.. Your G/F shouldn't frequent an establishment with that policy.

Just Google it, like I did before I responded to you, some states are a little softer on it but Federal law prohibits dogs in any place food is served or sold.
Like said store management just doesn't want to confront any one.

Post the statute. There is no Federal Law banning a dog from a grocery store or place where food is served.

You'd be very surprised how many are allergic to dogs to the point that they can't interact with them.

You notice none of those stores listed prepare or serve food? And I've worked in Costco's kitchens, you're fooling yourself if you disregard the food preparation.

And as much as I dislike people bringing their dogs into any store, a retail situation is much easier to deal with being as their isn't food there and there is typically other areas in the store to go to separate yourself from the dog if need be.

We saw the same show. I was surprised TP was their money maker and liked how they said the price of hotdogs is the same as it was when they first opened and they will never raise it.
