He looked surprised to see my transponder stuck on the windshield. Tried to tell me it wasn't working. Thats why I argued with him. Thats why I got a ticket :D

But I did look back for a sec to see dirt spewing from both rear wheels.

That was fun :D

Alright, I get it. You went down verbally swinging.

I received a cell ticket a few years ago using push to talk. Totally legal to do in a commercial vehicle at that time. The CHP knew I was because the call was still trying to happen as he is asking for my papers. He wrote me anyway.

Really that's a law? So a cop can write a ticket for a non-affixed transponder? Not buying it.

I just got my new transponder since my other one died. From the booklet they sent.

You are responsible for mounting your transponder in accordance with the CA Vehicle Code and could be subject to fees or a citation for failure to do so.

What confuses me is how you will get a ticket in CA for attaching anything to your windshield such as a GPS unit anywhere on your windshield in the name of safety but it is mandatory to mount the transponder. :headscratch:

Just doing his job I guess. But I call bs on the transponder not working. Two tolls this morning, beeped both times no issue. In fact at least twice a day for years. Odd it didn't work 1X and I got pulled over for it.

So he either screwed up, or lied. No legit reason to pull me over. Which means the license thing would have never happened.

So I'll pull my fastrack statements with the toll for last night when I go to court and see what happens.

Finally had my day in court. Judge starts calling role. No cop and your case is dismissed. She calls me then my CHP. ...no answer. She starts to say dis....then the clerk tells her he's running late. Damn.

So when it's my turn I whip out my AZ deed and taxes, Mohave electric utility and phone bills with my name on them. Show her the vehicle registration that s company owned, and tell her I'm as Arizona as you can get :D

She says because I have a house in ca I need a ca license. Your fine is $75.00. Ok whatever....$75 ain't gonna kill me.

So I go to pay the clerk...she says $394.00. Wtf? How did it go from $75 to $400? She says penalties and fees. Holy fuck.

So I get to keep my license but every time I get a ticket they'll add $400 to it for "penalties and fees"

Thanks California :skull

No actual proof that I own a house in Ca was introduced. No actual proof that I live in that house was introduced. The proof that was produced was the title and taxes on my Arizona house. Along with utility bills and phone bills showing calls to my cell phone. I also showed the Ca. vehicle registration that is not personally registered to me. I have a couple vehicles and boats that are registered in Az, I did not show that in court. Didn't think I needed to go that far.

The referee didn't seem too interested in anything I had to say or show.

Next time I'll lawyer up.

I had a similar experience with my motorized bicycle ticket in Newport Beach. I fought everything down to $15 in penalties, but fees and bonds (crap people just vote yes on because it sounds nice) added $195. I got out of there lite compared to the other poor SOBs in the room. Leason learned on my end is it is better to avoid and evade than to be right. :D

Yes - you should have brought your lawyer. Mine helped - we were the only two people in the room with suits and ties on. I really think he wanted to move things along. :thumbsup

That does not nessesarly matter because you have to file in multiple states based on where revenue is realized or you are supposed to. They are trying to crack down on this with consulting in my line of work but it is pretty hard to track.

I didn't think you were aloud to have a lic. in more than one state. I thought you had to surrender you CA lic when getting an AZ lic.

OH well that's CA for ya.

Yup. They punched my Ca license. It still shows up though. CHP knew I used to have a Ca. license.

Pro athletes have to pay each state they play in. So they count # of games and earnings per game and send them a check. BS if you ask me. As long as the other states don't double up, it is what it is.
